The World Diecast Games.
I've been looking at doing something different after hosting "just home based" events and I mentioned him in a previous post reply, but Simmo was instrumental in developing this idea and basically came up with the formats and design.
An "Olympics" of diecast racing events. Open to all to represent their nation
Though the list of events is still being discussed and edited, this is the kind of event list ideas at the moment.
Simmo was quite strict on a few things to "look-out" for other diecast racers which he said is non-negotiable:
1. Do NOT ask anybody for any entry money until everything is in place.
2. Even when it is, online payments just for postage back of cars and possibly, and only if agreed, a + £1 fee for admin (medals), no profit making involved whatsoever. This is then tracked and can be shared with all entrants (i.e. - who entered what event, with what car and how much paid. An open source so there is no issue)
3. Fun - has to be fun, not a chore or a business.
4. Host cities/countries - own and create the annual event but pass it around on offer like the Olympic Games, if people have the space/time/enthusiasm to host the events.
5. Let the diecast community shape this, give ideas and feedback, be open to their expert ideas. Let them evolve it.
6. Allow FREE advertising on the circuits for those creating, to promote their content.
I give you the concept, which is quickly becoming a reality, from the brain of Simmo.
