MAY 1, 2026: RACE UPDATE:

Hello everyone, my apologies for the delay in racing. Life is throwing a lot of hard curveballs lately so I'm trying to work through the chaos and get on to the next phase. That said there will possibly be some big changes to the event. There is a lot to sort out. Some aspects will be really bright spots and some not so bright, but ultimately the best possible experience for everyone who is racing, is the goal. And these changes will include ALL 32 teams in competition. Things are always slow-going on this channel as usual, so my apologies, but it's either slow or nada.
A community post will hit the channel as soon as I get things sorted and I will include a video update to hit the LYDC Racing Facebook. The tournament is happening, but there are a range of possibilities yet to be sorted out that will give us a more clear vision towards how it plays out. News is on the way ASAP. Just need to sort it with some more time. Thanks y'all.

Car 1: Audi 90 Quattro
Car 2: 1996 Matchbox Superfast Mercedes Benz GTC also known as the "AMG C-Class" and is also available as a recent Hot Wheels premium. Do not send the 1997 Hot Wheels skinny version. We are racing some wide cars on 1:55 scale lanes for this event.

This is a Team event. Your cars are working together for a collective time in stage 1 qualifying and then collective points at the finish line in stage 2 if your team qualifies to race. 

Only the specific castings noted above are allowed.

PIC shows 2 options for the BENZ and then the Audi 90 Quattro that rounds out your team.

1 Team per household.
Event is capped at 32 Teams. We will produce stage 1 qualifying vids and take the entries down to 16 teams that will enter stage 2 of the competition. The Deep Eddy Raceway will be in Rally Mode with multiple jumps.

Stage 1 Qualifying vids come first. We will take a break for the holiday and begin stage 2 racing in January.

Rules & restrictions

• Modified entries only
• 55-65g maximum weight
• Retail axles and BLACK plastic wheels only. No clear. FTE/NPA axles allowed.
• Graphite or Silicone
• 1 Team per household.
• Custom MATCHING rally style team livery is a must. This includes color-scheme and traditional rally decals. Do not hand paint. No flames, skulls, animals, flags or any decals that fall outside traditional European rally car styling. 
• Unsure of anything? Please ask.
• Use your usual driver # decals on BOTH doors of BOTH cars. That is your team #.
• Hand-painting the cars or team numbers is forbidden. 
  Please choose and list two separate driver names.
• No exterior weight. No tungsten puddy allowed.
• No add-ons.
• No body mods on the Audi.
• Body mods on the Benz are limited to the sides or fender flares only. 
• Do not open the wheels wells.
• Do all the wheel swapping you want but keep the same diameter wheels that come stock on each car. 
• Deep Eddy has 1:55 scale dual lanes and only one 90-degree laned turn. The track is designed for wide cars.
• Hide the weight in your car. Min weight is 55g. Max is 65g. Heavy cars jump higher and land harder.
• Paint the interior of the lenses black. 
• Stock and or modified suspension is allowed but I have little testing of that feature to confirm any advantage or disadvantage.
• Keep your weight low and balanced to lessen the potential for rollovers/nosedives etc...
• Glueing axles and using the interior for "loose" axles both work well here. 

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Friday, 11/21/2025. Qualifying vids run up to the holidays in 2025 and we take a break for family. Stage 2 rounds of racing will be released as is convenient for the host beginning the first week in January 2026.

How to enter

Claim your team # and list your 2 driver names.

Contact the tournament host to get the shipping address for entry.

Include at least $15.00 entry fee. This applies to all entries regardless of return and only covers automatic car returns within the continental US. I will not track you down to pay the entry fee. UPDATE! For international entries please include return shipping funds to cover return costs in full if you want the cars back. And be aware that I cannot afford to absorb any tarriff costs. By choosing to enter, you agree to cover those costs promptly or I cannot accept the package. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Track

Racing will be in RALLY MODE which adds 3 jumps to the DEEP EDDY RACEWAY 2.0. seem below. View track profile and specs

Race format and scoring

Each team will get 2 qualifying runs alternating lanes and the lap times will be added together for a cumulative team time. The top 16 team times will enter stage 2 group racing with 2 teams in the grid for cumulative points at the finish line. A team will move on in the bracket when it wins more points vs the other team. Tie-breaker UPDATE: These will be settled with a sudden death match between the 2 drivers on each team that have contributed the least amount of points to their team total. Inside lane goes to the fastest lap time if they trade wins. 

Race host has final decision in all races.

Bracket seeding will be based upon team times in qualifying stage 1.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the specs, requests or restrictions listed above, the car will not race.

Cars that fail to run on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing might be repaired if possible.

Prizes

All tears in the final 4 will receive gift cars and a trophy will go to the champion team.
