A shout out for Model40Fan (AKA) Smitty.
This Gentleman of the highest degree sent me a PM about his starting gate offering to send me one. I responded with the type track I was building and he told me he could build a gate that would work. Well, on Monday a box showed up at my door with the starting gate inside and a substantial amount of postage he spent to send it. First I would like to at least pay this man back for his parts, labor and shipping and If he would PM me I will get a payment off to him. Second, I have been a part of many organizations, many to do with racing either model or 1 to 1 racing and I have learned a couple of lessons. Lesson number one and most likely the most important one is that any organization is only as strong as it's members and if Smitty is an example of the people in this organization then it is one to be proud of. I look forward to my first race in the TransAm series, not only to race against, but more important to share the fun and companionship that seems to be abundant in this organization. Once again Model40Fan, thank you for your reaching out to a stranger and making him feel very welcome.

Well said, MBMan! Smitty does a great deal for the members of RLD! He, and the other members here, are what make the races here very special events!

Hear, hear! Smitty is one of RLD's vital organs and it would be difficult to survive without him. I'm honored that he has chosen to make Redline Derby part of his hobby...we all certainly benefit from his involvement.
It's easy to call any online forum or message board a "community" but I feel RLD actually lives up to that title. I've been a member of many forums and have managed several in the past, this is by far the most successful thanks to its members. As the guy running things, I might make some stupid decisions and change things on a whim from time to time, but no matter what I do, the community here always shines through.
