Yes, bracket points for everyone, bonus points for the advanced players. I think that's a good middle ground.

You'll pick cars from the existing pool...however, just like in v1, new cars will be added on a somewhat regular basis, both as I buy them and as folks donate.

And your point about knowing which cars will win...that's probably true, but then also keep in mind that top winner cars are taken out of the pool, so if there is another muscle car tournament the top car won't be available.

I'm also still planning on achievements too, so there are chances for everyone to get extra bonus points just for reaching goals, like submitting 4 brackets, picking a perfect bracket, stuff like that...

And we all look forward to more cars!!! Can't wait! PM me if you need shipping details.

Thinking there may be some rules that limit how frequently any one car can be entered by a player. Like you can't enter the same car twice in a row. Or maybe limit to which cars can be entered overall, so you couldn't submit Car A in week 2 if someone entered it into week 1...something that makes players have to choose different cars rather than going to same ones each time...

Dunno...I don't like adding an extra layers of rules like that but it might be good to keep players on their toes, make you really think about which car you want to enter in which tournament...hmmmm

I wouldn't put any limits on the people being able to pick cars from their garage. It's only bonus points. Picking the matches should be the bulk of the points.

Besides, even if somebody has all of the champs, they will only receive bonus points. The main way to achieve points is to pick racers for each match.

While there are benefits to improving the gameplay and leveling out the playing field, you also want to keep it simple by not having too many rules.

There won't be any limits on garages because garages don't mean anything any more. I'm just wondering if there is a need to limit car entries so there's not a point where the same 16 cars are racing week after week...but maybe that will all sort itself out naturally...

...better to add rules later than too soon

For V2, I thought that you're picking cars for the matches from the general pile rather than what is available from the garages.

Correct. The garage is only a favorites list, so there are no limits.

Too many rules could be bad, but I strongly agree with you on limiting our ability to enter the same cars into multiply tournaments. I would like to see a variety of cars in these tournaments to keep things interesting and make picking more challenging. However, you may run into a shortage of muscle cars (for example) if every muscle car tournament has new muscle cars.
Brian, I definitely like the option of entering cars into the tournaments, but at the same time it seems to bring up differences of opinion among the players. It will be difficult for you to make everyone happy, but I think that whatever you finally decide upon will be more than acceptable to the majority of the players.

If I'm reading this right, I think only certain cars will be available to enter into a race. He's going to have themed tournaments, so you'll only get to pick from that theme of cars. So I don't think it's going to be the same cars over and over again, unless we have the same theme over and over again.

If we're doing theme tournaments though, we're probably going to need to donate more theme type cars to make sure there is plenty to choose from and yes, that way we won't see the same cars racing every week. As long a you have more that 16 cars for that theme, just make sure your pool to choose from is only 16 and you can have the cars in the pool for that theme chosen randomly. That way there's no telling what cars you'll get to choose from, even if it is the same theme. That means quite a bit of cars though, depending on the type of themes you choose.

You're exactly right...it's all about the themes. Thankfully, you can get pretty crazy with how you group cars. Beyond the easy ones like Muscle Cars, Ferraris, and FTEs, I expect to have themes like "cars with numbers" and "cars that start with the letter M" and the likes. It should help keep the cars diverse between tournaments.

But some themes will be re-used during the season because they're fun and the car population is big. It's true that the more cars that exist within a grouping the better. I will be expanding my own HW shopping to think more about themes for the league as well as just getting the cars I like. Whatever people are comfortable donating is always appreciated and welcomed. I guarantee there will be a "Donated cars" theme too!

We'll have to start a new forum thread just for tournament themes!

I could easily see races with the same group of cars in the future because
the same cars don't win every time and the results won't necessarily
be the same.

Muscle Cars I, II, III, IV, etc

I'm heading to the Post Office to send a box in about an hour.

Also, forgot to mention, it depends if the track is going to be the same for each tournament. If the track changes, even in the slightest (not as steep of a drop, longer/shorter straight away), then you can count on different outcomes for the races.

Indubabdiddly.

As for my box, I was not able to get it in the mail today. I will
try again tomorrow.
