Build Journal: Quarter mile drag strip on the move
I have been wanting to put a 1/4 mile drag stip in my house or a newly remodeled office. With Open track a 4x8 to even a 4x10 foot space is plenty, but traying to find at least 120 feet stright was very hard without it taking up to much space. We had the idea to make a portable "Open track" but need/ want a "Drag Track" for speed test & time trials.
1st ideas was to hang the track from the ceiling with threded rod (1/2 to 5/8) and 2 boards (1x12, 1x10) unless you want an extra 2 feet so 124 feet with 2) 1/12 boards. Use 4) pull action toggle claps (400lbs). It was two long for the space. Just a FYI 4 orange track pieces will fit.
So after another brainstorm of ideas and current track ideas (overhead drag strip) we are building the first of its kind that I have seen (If you made one please let me know) after some research. A 4 part "Drag Strip". I will post pictures on my next post. Its a little under 6ft tall for the 1st part with a 14 to 15 degree slop down. The next part continues down to the 2 part stright away. It sits up off the ground a little due to me being in a power wheelchair. So its handicapable, so I can reach the cars at the finish. With a Spool Head remote start gate allows me to start the races

We have one section left before the tops go on. Here are a few more so you can see the process. 
Anyone have code or know a good website for programming the finish line Ardinoo. That's my last big hurtle. I have all the stuff to go on the board. For the start three light tree, to the RFD for the finish line

we finally got the whole thing together all sections 2-5ft, 2-6ft. One piece of hot wheels orange stuff measures 30.5 cm. we have 22 pieces. Here's a few shots of the track. 
Looks very intense. You even have room on both sides of the track to put in any diaramas, specators, extra cars, or pretty much anything to decorate the pathway along the track.
Is the plan to bring it inside during non-use or when weather turns bad?
It looks like you can still put some casters on the main stretches and they can move easier for storage if you do plan to be able to move it.
- The plan is to put adjustable feet. We are currently looking for a home, lol but the idea was to be able to take it to car show, festivals , events. We are trying to figure out the scenery. I know we will have a tree at the start and a 2 lane finish line. Do you know a good place to get code for the finish timers? We have all the stuff. — QuadWheelz
- Don't know about arduino programming. For convenience, I purchased an electronic start/remote/finish line from an established vendor; Playrobotics. — RacerGnome
Here's what we have thus far. We plan on painting orange track black and putting in lights like a air strip. The finish line ???? will be replaced with a time read out per side. Waiting on parts for the start gate. 
Theses 2 pictures are the views from opposite sides. So depending on the side, you're standing, you will see purple or all green. That way you know what side racing. who wins green or purple
Are the giant pin looking things some sort of leveler setup? There are 4 of them strategically placed with what looks like a rod that might go down to adjust heights, and the round portion above is to turn it to lower it as much is needed to level the base unit; is that right?
