Build Journal : Shady Valley Track
Hi guys! Figured I share my first time track.
Wife and I bought our first home last September and I finally had a place to build a huge track, or so I thought as the wife relegated me to a space of about 6x3. One thing I knew is that I did not want a track from an elevation of 5 feet to the floor, so I knew that it was going to be small since there wasn't going to be a lengthy straight.
Luckily, the last owner left behind baseboard panels which I started to saw up to create the frame and lay the track.
After a bit of trial and error with the framing I then used foam flatlay boards as a way to create more stability since I started running out of wood.
The next step was figuring out how to create scenery. I decided to start crumbling paper bags and to create the mountains and went out and got some grass sheets from hobby lobby.
As of this point, this last pic is where I am at. Planning to get more grass sheets for the base, add a river and possibly a waterfall from the mid section of the first turn. We'll see how things go from there.

We'll folks, here we are on the final stretch of the build. Just about 98% done. Since the last update I've added about a 1.5ft of track at the start, painted and added scenery and installed lights. Also added a waterfall! Got a bit of painting left but for the most part, the track is complete!
