Build Journal - Tall Pines Speedway
Currently tearing down the Thunderdome track and seeing all the many things I added or tweaks I made over 18months or more. Lots of wiring and bits of wood glued everywhere. But that's how you patch together Crash Racers track into an actual open track raceway. So moving to fully printed SpoolHeads track will be very different.
The track I purchased will fit on a 2.5x6.5ft piece of plywood, I purchased some extra pieces and am using a 3.5x7.5ft sheet of plywood (5/8 thickness). I hope to add a 7ft long drag strip that is pass-thru and would go onto a 2 lane winding track across the plywood base. I'll do a sketch for planning but a big unknown is the footprint of the SpoolHeads track.
Tearing the old track down

I'm considering some sort of lighting in an attempt to do some night racing. Currently considering using a stadium lighting thing something like this every few feet or so.

Should be fullyjj demoed by Sunday
Discussion
I hope some other hosts who have run night racing events pop in with their advice. What I have are observations and maybe educated guesses, keep this in mind
It isn't a matter of merely lowering your usual light levels, camera settings need to be fiddled with also. They'll strain to capture enough especially when it comes to making slow motion clear as possible. To that point, I gently question these stadium lights and how quickly the camera recovers, going from dim to bright and back again
Please, MORE photos as your new Spool Heads kit takes shape, been wanting this update! Thanks Abby

Sweet! Can't wait to see the new layout and track! Have fun!
