Building the official 3DBotMaker Test Track
The question I have about 3d printers is...how do I tell it what to make? Where are the programs located to tell the 3d Printer what to make?
- There's all sorts of software to make 3D models. Then you send that file to your printer. — redlinederby
Tragedy struck this morning. While finishing my track stabilizing.. One of the tabs of my 3d printed gat e snapped of. Suggestions On Reattaching?
Great looking track, 3D!
My only thoughts about a layout like this is that the car that is on inside for the the first turn has an advantage when it comes to momentum. I know the cars travel the same distance, but, when the cars hit that first turn, the car on the inside is going to have a lot higher exit speed coming out of that first turn. I suppose, if there was an equal drop going in to the second turn, it would even out. But, it is really tricky to get a track like this 'tuned in' to be really even....it's why I kinda prefer an 'open' track when it comes to one with turns in it. Just my two cents :)
Depends on the length of the track...Bootleg Run has a 6' drop/dropping 6" coming out of turn 1- Widow Maker to turn 2-Soul Taker which drops 6'/dropping 6" to the Trestle Bridge, also the inside portion of the turn has a shorter distance in the curves but the outside lane in the curves get's more of a sling shot effect in terms of momentum. Also, from the Elite 8 to the Championship, 4 races were won (including the Championship) from taking the outside lane in Widow Maker last and 3 of the races which went 2-0 won their 1st race while taking the Widow Maker in the outside lane.
I'm not saying that they can't be made to run fairly...it's just tricky getting them to do so :) On an 'open' track, there is much less worry about getting two different lanes to perform equally...it's all one big lane.
Wow...that's some crazy macro shots there, nicely done! What camera are you using for that? Any chance you can share a photo of your "studio" setup?
Track action looks great too. Nice way to showcase your products. But next time, do 2 out of 3 or something...the up front sexy car shots felt longer than the actual racing. Instead of so much car stuff, could do some track walking to show off your accessories and the layout...more of a "here's all the stuff, now here it is in use" type of thing.
- Completely agree about the race footage being longer. — 3DBotMaker
- I spent so much time testing camera settings etc. with theses 2 cars, I was ready to move on to a different matchup. — 3DBotMaker
- Next race will be 2 out of 3. — 3DBotMaker
- Close-up shots - iPod Touch w/ clip-on macro lens — 3DBotMaker
- Cool. I wondered how well those snap-on lenses work. See pudding. — redlinederby
That Mercedes is bad for turns, the big and low front spoiler rubs the curve walls...one was entered in Southern Drift and was the worst car on the track. If you pause the video at 1:52 and then hit play, you can clearly see the spoiler drag that car has in the turns....great looking casting, but poor road racer.
Man, I need one of those, and the lane mergers for racing on my channel. I would love to see a 45 degree turn for diecast racing. Have you thought about making something like that? Great video by the way. You should do your own racing on YouTube!
- I plan to keep making more videos. I’m having a lot of fun. — 3DBotMaker
- Haven’t thought about a 45 degree but I’ll put it on my list. — 3DBotMaker
- Max Traxxx makes a 45deg 2-lane curve that's compatible w/HW track, not the best design however. — GspeedR
- I could use a 45 for my nascar racing especially! Might be something to think about because I haven't found any. — sub4ra
- I use that Max Traxxx curve, but it's still a 90. — sub4ra
Here's my 2nd race. This time I did best 2 out of 3 and shortened the car intros to make it feel more balanced.
- Nicely Done 3D!!! — LeagueofSpeed
- Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — Rusty
- Awesome video! The little RX7 didn't waste much time taking out the Porsche. — Dadvball
Awesome track & ideas 3D...
Are you developing any accessories for the Super 6 Lane Raceway?
Like a 6 lane curve, perhaps? Just maybe?
Other than homemade customizations, I haven’t noticed ANY accessories for this great track.
You know you’re the person that has the equipment and the know how to make a super 6 lane curve possible.
PLEASE help us racers out with this and other 6 lane accessories that are MUCH needed!
Thanks!!!
- I just recently picked up a 6-lane raceway with plans to make a base/stand for the finish line. — 3DBotMaker
- A 6-Lane curve would be a huge piece to make. I would need a larger printer before attempting that. — 3DBotMaker
- LO$ - you following this thread? — Mopar_Mafia
- Yeah....that 6 Lane stand would serve me well moving forward with the Orange Monster — LeagueofSpeed
