Can-I enter 3D printed cars in a tournament ?

Deedose Monday, 4/18/2022

I don't have cars worth modifying , but I do have a bunch of bad , old cars . So , to make better cars , I just took the wheels of the cars , modelised a new car , and 3D printed it . Are these cars allowed in tournaments , or are they banned ? (I don't see anyone building cars like this)

I'm guessing so long as it applies to rules of the tournament (ie: if they require a certain type/model of car) it wouldn't be a problem.

Look up War on I4 on Facebook. Luthrell over there has been developing 3D printed cars for a few months now.

As RLoRacing says above, as long as the cars comply with individual tournament rules, I can't see why they would be banned, but best to check with each host before committing to send them.

  • That's great . Then I'l continue developing 3D printed cars . — Deedose

Maybe this will inspire someone to host a 3D event. There's a place for zoomins, so there's a place for 3D. If there's wheels someone will want to race it.

I don't see why not  If you want you to enter my tournament I have a few spots left. Miniature Car Racing  As long as they fit on the Orange track they're good 2 me

  • I don't think my cars would be competitive , because they were designed for a cardboard track with sharp turns and short straights , so they are very light . I'm designing one especially for racing in tournaments , but it is far from finished .. — Deedose

I would love to test run your 3D printed car. Durability testing. A 3D printed tournament sounds like a great ???? idea. Let the creativity bloom. What do you have to offer. I bet cars with bearings could be built-in. Super fast and stable. Suspension cars for the 4x4 path.

My out door tracks can race most any scale cars from 1:64 to 1:18.

I wouldn't bc you would have to add a lot of weight to get them competitive also getting them small enough will be hard af.

dm though if you wanna collab, I have had this idea in the past but dismissed it. I am also experienced with tinkercad

Diecast cars over the decades have evolved from one-piece lead bodies with solid metal wheels to detailed, acurate castings with window glazing, separate tires, and opening panels. All this occured before Mattel even thought of changing the game with Delrin bushings and Spectraflame paint. It is inevitable 3d printing will play a part in whatever comes next, so please continue your experiments with it. Que sera sera.
