Inspired by the arcade game of the same name, City Connection challenges you to pack as much speed as you can into the tiny '85 Honda City Turbo II casting. They've been all over the pegs so there should be no shortage if you don't have any in your stash already. Tiny car, tiny wheels, big challenge!
Dedicated to Ryu Asada, 1978-2021
In light of the news that the designer of the City Turbo casting, Ryu Asada, passed away recently, the City Connection event has been dedicated to his memory. Join the discussion celebrating Ryu and all the great castings he helped design.

Track
Racing will be on the Redline Derby Speedway. View track profile and specs
Race format and scoring
This will be a double-elimination tournament. A car will move on in the bracket only when it wins two races in a row. Cars will alternate lanes between each race.
The car that wins the final race will be declared the winner. Race host has final decision in all races.
Bracket seeding will be random.
Penalties/DNF
Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.
If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.
Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.
Prizes
The winner will get a Redline Derby Prize Pack that includes:
- RLD Champion Trading Card featuring their car and stats
- RLD Logo decal sheet
- Pocket notebook
- Stickers
- Random mainline car
- Shop promo code
Discussion
That's awesome! Count me in for this one!
Count me in please.
Count me in!
I'll be sending one.
I'm in. Hopefully I can find one soon
Sounds like fun. I think I'll join in. At least there's plenty of time to prepare.
Silly question, but how far CAN we modify these things? I have an idea, but I think it would be better suited for the track and not exactly as a city driver. (Then again, the modification I'm thinkng of has been seen on the street with other different vehicles, so it may still be considered street-legal.)
- As long as it looks like something that is realistic-ish then it's fine. No body extensions or Mad Max things or Voxxer-like treatments. — redlinederby
In.
For those of you who are wheel-farming, this might help. These wheels are the same size as the Honda City Turbo (please add any I have missed)
From the 5-pack circus/carnival set:
-Boom Car (front wheels only)
-Roller coaster car (all wheels)
-Bumper car (all wheels)
-Skull Shaker (front wheels only)
-Manga Tuner (all wheels)
- New AE86 and there was something else I saw earlier today but now can't remember what it was — Mattman213
- Morris Mini was the other — Mattman213
- Mad Manga from the Nightburnerz 5 pack too (front and back) — RLoRacing
- Sky Boat as well (front only) — GhostRacing
Funny, because I saw these all the time until you first posted about the race... Luckily after a week of searching, I found one at Target just now so I'm in
- They're still all over around here, Kroger and Meijer. Figured it was similar in places where they go through inventory a little slower. — redlinederby
10,000 flip'n hotwheels in my basement and I didn't have one of these - but I do now!!! So I'll give it a shot. Add me to the list - Thanks
Heck yeah funky funky little casting so this should be a great challenge. Count me in!
