CLOSED - Mustang Memorial 2025

This is a charity event to raise money for Paw Justice in NZ. There is a $10NZD donation to be made directly to Paw Justice via their website www.pawjustice.co.nz/donate - send proof of donation, via Redline messages, when your entry is ready and we'll send you the address to send the car to.

Rules & restrictions

• Modified entries only
• 45-50g weight only
• Limited to the 67 Shelby GT500 and the 67 Ford Mustang Coupe ONLY  as pictured below
• Limit 2 entries per household
• Any axles allowed but black tyres only - no clear or coloured tyres and no rubber tires
• Any lube allowed
• You can send two cars but only one will be raced, the slower car will also go to the winner with the other cars
• Must have custom paint and decals, no stock body entries
• Must have a driver figure and at least the top of the interior showing (dashboard/top of seats)
• Max of 32 drivers in the competition, with a max of 36 entries
  • All drivers must qualify, with the fastest 32 moving into the tournament
  • The 4 that don't qualify, we'll try to get an alternates race done for you at least, so you can see your car race
• 8 slots will be held open for first timers/newbies to the sport for the first week of registration. If they aren't claimed they will be opened up to anyone
• Do not add anything to make the cars any wider or taller as they won't fit through the track
  • Also, don't start cutting or drilling holes in the car to make it lighter
• Cars must have a number clearly on the doors and hood/roof
  • You choose your number but it is first in first served
• Cars are not returned

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Friday, 24th October 2025. Racing is scheduled for Friday, 31st October 2025. Videos will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

How to enter

Comment with your name and the # you want. If the number is taken, we'll comment on your post to ask for a different option. IF YOU ARE A NEWBIE MAKE SURE TO MENTION THAT SO YOU GET ONE OF THE RESERVED SLOTS

If you're new to diecast or to entering a race, we are reserving 8 entries for the first week of registration to give you a shot at getting a chance to enter. If they aren't claimed by then, they will be opened up to other drivers.

Contact the tournament host to get the shipping address for entry once you have made the $10NZD donation to Paw Justice and have a screenshot of the payment.

No entries returned. They will be given to the winner as a prize

Include a Race Entry ID slip with your entry and make sure to include your driver name and your Redline Derby screen name so we can contact you if you win a prize

Track

Racing will be on the Possum Hills. View track profile and specs

We also reserve the right to potentially run the cars on other tracks of ours as part of the event but they won't affect the winner of this tournament, that will only be judged on the Possum Hills track

Race format and scoring

This is a four car race setup with top drivers moving onto the next round.

Points will be awarded for passing the finish only, no checkpoints. 6pts 1st place, 4pts 2nd place, 2pts 3rd place, 1pt for 4th place, DNF 0pts. Points do not accumulate

There will also be prizes awarded for Best in Show (audience vote) and a Speed Demon award for the fastest lap time. There may also be some other possible awards depending on what happens during the racing (something like most bogans killed by a Mustang - looking at you Mr Darq)

Penalties/DNF

If your car can't make it to the finish line from three qualifying attempts, you will not qualify. In the event that we don't get 32 cars qualified, we reserve the right to enter cars to top up the field, but they will not be eligble for any prizes, they are purely there to make up the numbers.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.
