Thanks Smitty and Chris!

Chris I can run them on also on the 28th if you want another week.  I can change the track height and length so both races will be different.

  • That would be great, Bill! That way, you can ship the cars after Christmas. — 72_Chevy_C10

Hi Guys,

I just updated the dates for these races...the first and second race will be held at Smitty's.

Smitty, would you like the Sedan race to start at my track on January 2/3? and then they could go to LJLRC?

And, if I had the Crew Chief vehicles and the Sedans  at the same time, I could have a little challenge race between the two...maybe the top 4 of each, making an 8-car race, like the Cops and Robbers?

What do you say, Smitty?

That's what we'll do then...I'll run the last race for the Crew Chief Challenge and the first race of the Sedan Shootout on the weekend of January 3rd.

And I'll take the top 4 cars from each series and have a Sunday night shootout!

So, start tuning up those hot rods, throw a new set of tires on those sedans and unload those pickup trucks, we're going to do some racing!! :)

THE Sloppies will be hosting the finals for the WAGON WARS, and the 1st heet of the CREW CHIEF CHALLENGE, a week apart... both series cars are here in ME.

Jumping on the C10 bandwagon ... Do we want some inter-series smackdowns...

The 4 top wags and the 4 top chiefs...and maybe the bottom 4 wags and the bottom 4 chiefs too...?

Maybe run "lane 1 only" time trials to decide the Smackdown bracket winners ? I will post all the ETs...

 comments ?

If this Smack-down idea is what the racers want, maybe we should set a lower standard weight limit...

This Smack-down will have 35, 50 and 57 gram racers...way back we took on the 57 gram limit because we didn't all have gram scales,  it was 2 ounces even and other clubs used 57 g's...

After hosting a few series I see that most racers run metal body / plastic base...  my M/P mock-ups are about 34 grams, leaving me to add about 22 grams of weight...

IMO... we should set a 45 gram limit, It could be changed up or down for any series that needs it... a standard gram limit would make inter-series smack-downs fair, less weight also makes the build a little easier and maybe a little better looking, not having to stuff the front seat with ballast... again my opinion only !

Personally I like building to the rules of each series.  As far as an inter-series smack-down goes, I say let the chips fall where they may. Lightweights vs heavy vs middles…I’m ok with it.  Heavy cars do not always win…this has a lot to do with what track they are run on as well.  Remember Weber cabin’s “Factory wars” set up…I remember a grudge match with 61g BWF Camaros and stock 34g FTE Corvettes… tracks with a long flat will penalize a heavy car without a high take off ramp to get all that weight moving.  Setting a 45g limit put a majority of the metal/metal entries out due to being overweight.

Again just my thoughts

  • Agreed...I just think it's fun to run fast cars against fast cars....whatever the weight! — 72_Chevy_C10

Hey Smitty,

I kinda like the idea of the best cars from one series running against the best from another...whatever the weight. With my Crew Chief Challenge vehicles, my fast Hot Rod and my fast Pickup and just about a dead heat...a 35 gram car and 50 gram truck...neither one has any weight in it!

I think that the heavier classes (75 grams, ie Cops and Robber, Heavy Haulers, etc) are fun, and challenging. But, just because a class has a weight limit, doesn't necessarily mean that the fastest car is going to be right at that limit.

I agree, a lot of cars, only weigh about 25-30 grams, but I think cars seem to run pretty darned fast in the 50-60 gram range.

Just my 2 cents :)

  • well spent... but it is the labor of stuffing that much weight in them i don't care for. — model40fan
