Cutting into a car

iowastockcars Wednesday, 9/7/2011

Working on some customs for Jason's nationwide racing series. What is the best way/tool to cut open a square spot in the middle of the hood (metal) so I can put in a motor from another car?

I first drill a hole in the center then I use some small shaped files to make the opening square.
You can get a set of small files at Harbor Freight for cheap, the Zamac is really soft and easy to file down.

I just did this exact thing for the same reason!

Bryan's advice is the exact same thing I'd tell you to do.

Nice looking roadrunner!

I'm starting with a '65 Impala on a 300C chassis. No more lowrider for that casting!

TO ADD A HOLE FOR THE INDUCTION, I ALSO DRILL A PILOT HOLE, BUT I WHITTLE THE HOLE CLOSE WITH A SMALL KNIFE, THEN FILE TO FIT, LOVE THAT INJECTOR UNIT
