D64 Pro Championship Race

Diecast64 Thursday, 12/3/2020

This year at D64 we will not be doing a season long points championship for each class like we have done in the past.  Instead we will crown one D64 champion at the end of the year.  The champion will be the racer that places first in the D64 Pro Championship race at the end of the year.

Racers must qualify for this race by reaching certain levels of achievement during the 2021 racing season.  To become a D64 Pro and qualify for the D64 Pro Championship race at the end of the season and be eligible to vie for the Season Championship, at least 10 of the following achievements must be accomplished.

  • Race in Open Modified
  • Race in Modified Street
  • Race in Feature Stock
  • Race in Builder’s Challenge
  • Race all 4 classes the same month
  • 400 mph in any class
  • 405 mph in any class
  • 410 mph in any class
  • 415 mph in any class
  • 420 mph in any class
  • Top 15 in Open Modified
  • Top 15 in Modified Street
  • Top 15 in Feature Stock
  • Top 10 in Open Modified
  • Top 10 in Modified Street
  • Top 10 in Feature Stock
  • Finals in Open Modified
  • Finals in Modified Street
  • Finals in Feature Stock
  • Final 4 in builders challenge
  • Win in Open Modified
  • Win in Modified Street
  • Win in Feature Stock
  • Win in Builders Challenge

Sounds easy enough right?

See ya on the track!

Discussion

Love it!  I think this is a cool way to keep everyone engaged and active.  And it feels like being a part of the Pro event would be worth chasing.

I have two questions about the new season.

First question:So I see the following as part of the possible acheivements:

Top 15 in Open Modified
Top 15 in Modified Street
Top 15 in Feature Stock
Top 10 in Open Modified
Top 10 in Modified Street
Top 10 in Feature Stock

What about top 15 or top 10 in the builder's challenge category? Doesn't that count too? Or is it left out for a reason?

Second question: Are we to assume that those who don't meet the Pro requirements are eligible to run in the Amatuer race?

Thanks and take care Robby. See ya at the races!

  • He never really covered the amateur race. I'm kinda at a loss on that too. — CrazyEights
  • Seems logical that if you don't qualify as a Pro, you must still be an Am. But I just want to be sure. Based on these requirements, I wouldn't qualify for 2020 as a Pro, but if the Builder's Choice (formerly the Feature Race)category counts, I would. — Peter_Bee

Hey great question about the builder’s challenge top 10 and 15. The reason I don’t have those is that aside from the heavyweight downhill dash, the rest of the challenge races are head to head elimination brackets that don’t sort places. Also some are traditional 2 car head to head brackets, but some, like the Gaslands race, are weird brackets matching up like 3 cars. So sorting out more than the top 4 just seemed like a challenge so I just stopped at 4 haha. But I’m glad you brought it up. I’ll continue to think about it.

As far as the Amateur race listed in conjunction with the Pro Championship race, I am tentatively planning on running a race for just pride and glory for those that don’t qualify for the Pro Race. I am saying tentatively on that one though, because it is in December which is already a busy month and I like to focus on other things so to be honest, I will have to see how the year is going as we get toward Sept/Oct and make a final decision then on the amateur race. Let’s just get you guys qualified for the Pro race and then you won’t have to worry about it. Haha ;)

  • After watching the last Gaslands race, I have a suggestion for achievements. Instead of Top 15, make it Advance to Round 2. Instead of Top 10, make it Advance to Round 3. Then you can keep Make Final 4 and Win Builder's channel. Something to think about... — Peter_Bee

For the heavy weights in Jan what are the weight limits?

  • No weight limit for heavyweights. There's a link to January's Rule package on the November race report. I'm stoked. My first track tests are tomorrow. — CrazyEights
  • Maybe I'll put wheels on a solid Lead Block within the dimension limits lol. — Peter_Bee
  • That's a very Voxxer-like thing to do — redlinederby

I love that, I'm going to build a bunch of cars for this

  • it will be fun until red pill shows up with Jimmy Hoffa stuffed in the trunk of a micro machine. Hahaha! — CrazyEights
  • that dude can stash some weight. — CrazyEights

My cars arrived today. Lancer Evo, F-150 140+ grams and 2 Funny Cars
