Daytona winning Ferrari and a Truimph
I went to HEB today and they had Hot Wheels five packs for $3. I found a Ferrari 5-pack that had a Ferrrari P4 in it. I already had a P4, but this one was different. The one I had was #32 and I had always wanted to find the #23 car, the car that won the Daytona 24hr in 1967:
When I get home Martha is telling me that she was talking to a co-worker about me watching quite a bit of the 24hr this weekend. She googles it to better explain the race it to her co-worker. One thing lead to another in her google search and she found this pic:
My dad (in the Truimph TR4) is about to be lapped once again by the much faster and overall race winning Ferrari of Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon!
I just had to share . . . and it's even Hot Wheels related!
Very cool, Carl! I'm sure your Dad got lapped by many prototypes that day. I love watching multi-class enduros, including Daytona & Le Mans. It must be incredibly demanding on the drivers of the slower cars...watching their rear-view mirrors as much as they look forward. There's a whole bunch of whiny, Southern millionaires(aka: NASCAR drivers) that could actually learn a thing or two from them.
