Disaster strikes
As my profile indicates I live in Oregon and I have been here since I believe 1978. And as rumors may have it, it does rain here and that season is upon us. So early this morning, I was awakened by the sound of just pounding rain. And it went on for quite a while. After a leisurely Saturday morning, I headed out to the shop to get a few cars, buttoned up only find a fair size puddle.
and right next to my workbench was this puddle which encompassed a box full of cars that I had placed on the floor. And that box was pretty well saturated. This box contained about 40 to 50 various new cars that I had tested lubricants on.
i've never dealt with wet hot wheels in my brief time with them. I spread them out on the garage floor. What is the best way to handle this to minimize damage to them. Heck, I feel if anything I'll just end up dropping them off at the Goodwill, but I'd like them to be in good shape.

Probably just me but I wouldn't get rid of 'em...
Thanks for the advice. I've got the cars in a well ventilated basket in front of a space heater. Most likely I'm gonna clean all these up. Make sure they'll roll OK and I'm probably gonna take them to the Goodwill.
we live in Beaverton, Oregon in and amongst the tall trees in a suburb that was cut into a small forest back in the 60s. Feel very lucky to have called this home for almost 30 years. And indeed I can say that the roof in the garage over the spot had seen leakage in the dark past before we bought the house. And I will say this roof is overly complicated with too many hips if you know what I mean.
Fire up your compressor and blow as much moisture out of them as possible. Wet causes rust on the axles, so you want to get them dried out. Might also consider using a hair dryer to help a bit, too.
Sounds like you're going to be re-oiling a bunch of cars ....
Pro tip: anything in the garage, especially if you know it rains and could potentially flood, put up on pallets. Anything on the floor can and will get ruined.
