Do we have a RAOK guy on this board?

Howdy all. I saw something on a different board that prompted me to start thinking about this.

Was just curious. Some boards have a guy that is sorta like the 'keeper of the mailing addresses".

RAOK, for those that don't know the acronym, is Random Act of Kindness. I've always sort of liked that Idea...someone on the boards comments on something or mentions that they're looking for something...you happen to have one and decide to surprise them with it...or whatever. So you go to the "Keeper" to find out the guy's mailing address, (if he's signed on for it) and send it to him.

I've been both a recipient and a giver when I was into slot cars, and its great goodwill.

It would be nice to have a thread where everyone just posts their mailing addy, but of course posting your mailing addy on an open furum is asking for trouble, so you have a guy that keeps them on file. When you need someones addy, just pm the 'keeper" and you're golden.

Do we have the means or the werewithal to do something like that? (or do we already?)

The PM button should be used to connect to other forum members. Sending someone a private message will send them an email letting them know they have a message waiting. From that point, you can exchange email addresses or whatever.

If anyone is a keeper of email addresses it's me. I'd prefer having such sensitive information under lock and key to avoid any unwanted sharing (even if accidental).

I'm all for having people connect and RAOK and all that, it happens here all the time, but lets let the message board handle communicating between users unless they swap email addresses on their own. Thanks.
