Donating racers

If I donate racers, do I have first shot at adding them to my garage?

Sure, I can make that happen Just let me know which car in your garage you want replaced with whatever car you've donated and I'll add it to your set when I add them to the league collection.

Man, that ain't right... I didn't get first dibs on any of the cars I donated.

Yeah, I also thought about asking that question when donating a car, but then I thought that wouldn't be very fair to the rest of the players. I say just announce it like you do and if you get it, you get it. If not, try asking the guy who has it if you can trade.

My bad then. If I missed one of you guys asking for donations going straight into your garage, my apologies. I guess no one ever made a stink about it so I didn't think much about it. So ya, I guess it would be most fair to keep the donations open for all when they are added. I usually add a good 3 or 4 cars a week, so you'll probably be able to snag your favorite.

It's cool, I never asked for any of my donations.

I just thought it would be an unfair advantage. Hell, I had to get a twitter account and link it to my cell to stay on top of things...and still missed out on the F-40, lol. There are plenty of other opportunities to snag a good car. We all know there are some good ones coming, you just gotta keep an eye on the garage and hope that the timing is right.

Yes, I'd love to be able to donate some cars directly into my garage, but that wouldn't be right. I got totally lucky when I nabbed the F40, it was just a matter of checking the garage at the right time.

Speaking of nabbing cars at the right time, anybody notice I nabbed the Chevy Stocker? w00t! I just happened to check the garage before I left today and bam, there it was. Somebody already had it in the all-pro class, but I was able to get it for the American class. Just in time for this weekend's race too, NICE! I've never seen it race, so I hope it lives up to the hype. I have a brand new one in my closet, but when it came in a nice Kar Keeper, I didn't want to open it. I figure if I buy or trade for another one some day, then I'll race it, LOL.

I disagree to an extent. It is possible that some people would like to donate cars and have at least one of their donations in their garage. Can you imagine how one would feel if they donated cars and they were all snatched up by other people? What if those cars went on to be champs? The person donating the racers loses to his own donations! That's a double insult. Would they not participate anymore?

I don't read all the posts. I don't know if everybody is contributing to the cause. People who have more time than others would have an advantage by getting dibs on cars quicker than others if they are able to keep tabs on the website. Speaking for myself, I have very little internet time during the week. Whatever time I do get has to be allocated to higher responsibilities.

I am happy to send cars but as I mentioned in another post, I would like to have shorter seasons and also have champion racers retired. If I do send cars, I would also like to have at lease one or two of them in my garage. And I am talking about donating around 20 cars (still in the package) and only wanting one or two of them in my garage. I would have no idea how they race because they would still be in the package.

Somebody mentioned Twitter so I went to see what was posted. New cars were added? When? Tuesday morning? I was sound asleep (day sleeper). I went to see if I could swap out cars but now the Garages are locked until the next race.

When is the garage open? If it is only open on Mondays and Tuesdays then I'm going to be stuck with the cars that are in my garage. I assume that it may be open Sunday after the races too so that would be my only chance.

Brian, correct me if I'm wrong, but the garages are only locked until the racing match-ups have been made. Which I'm assuming will be sometime today. So I believe later today or tomorrow the garages will be back open. You can switch cars to and from your garage after that, but your cars for Sunday's race are already locked in. Any cars you switch will be for the next race.

Bandeezee is correct about the garage dates. The garages are only closed on deadline days, the days when the seeding is done. The day of the week may change, but it's usually Wednesday or Thursday.

Whatever cars are in your garage on the deadline day are the ones that are used in seeding. They are locked in at that point, so any swapping you do AFTER the deadline date does not affect that race. The days between deadlines is your swap/trade time.

I admit the scheduling is a little awkward, sorry for any confusion. When we started race day was also deadline day so it all happened at once. But once we added the race polling time had to be created so there was time to vote. Based on stats and what I see, a lot of people hit the site during lunch, probably at work (like me). I chose Wednesday so there are 2 business days for voting instead of just one on Friday.

As far as new cars being added is concerned, I have to admit that I was selfish in choosing Twitter to announce new cars because its convenient for me. It's a great real-time tool, but I should post new additions to the site or forum too, albeit after the Twitter goes out.

Mark, if you have a box of cars you're willing to donate like you mentioned, I think your request to get one or two into your garage first is fair. Since some cars fall into multiple classes, just because you get a couple cars by default doesn't mean they won't also be available to other racers. PM me if you're still interested and I'll get you details. More cars being added to the league will benefit everyone that plays.

Not sure if the How to Play section is written any better, but some more details are there too:

All that being said, with any luck v2.0 of the league will solve a lot of these problems. The new game will be less about closely managing your garages, so there won't be mad rushes for new cars. Also scheduling should be a bit easier too since you don't have to worry about swapping cars between races...you'll just have to worry about entering your favorite car. I'm pretty sure that's where the rush will happen.
