DragonFire mobile raceway loaded up for its maiden event

It's finally ready, tested, loaded up and headed to a local diecast show this weekend for some Rip n Race action. The winner will take home an F case and the runner-up scores a Super TH. Should be a good time.

Totally awesome! Would love to get a shot at racing on it!
- I’m more of an organizer for in-person racing but thinking of doing some kind of mail-in challenge for this group. — ChiefWopahoo

That's awesome. Good luck with the event.
The track is set up and ready for some rip n racin' action. Most test runs have the fastest cars running in the low 7 seconds range. I think it'll take a 6.xxx second run to bring home the bacon. It was a vendor set up day and cool thing was that some of them were digging through their under the table stash to find the types of castings that seem to do well. Tomorrow should be interesting.
This is awesome to see, Bruno. It's a beast for sure and love all the attention you put into the logistics of the thing...rolling, modular-ish, etc. It's nice that you can focus on the live event space and bring the joy of racing to the masses. Also a wonderful reminder that all the diorama modeling tracks are incredible and great for episodic-ish racing but sometimes you just need a good old fashioned track that gets the job done. It's about the racing, after all.
- Thanks Brian. I love the diaroma racing for sure and definitely appreciate the talent of those behind it. To me though there’s nothing like the in-person experience that includes all the yays and awwws of winning and not winning. It’s a good time. — ChiefWopahoo
Really pleased to report that the first public outing of the DragonFire Raceway went smoothly and the track system worked very well. We had 262 cars entered throughout the day with 524 official runs and a few just for fun runs. Most attendees, young and old, seemed to like the track setup. As always there are a few things that can be improved and those will come as we go. Here are a few pics from the day including the award winners and two fastest castings. The young lady holding pink Mustang GTR custom earned her car because with cat like reflexes she caught a car that had come off the track fast in mid-air. It was an amazing feat to see in person so I figured she deserved a special gift. She's standing with the fella that made the custom. Here is a photo batch from the day.
Nice! I especially like the way you put plexigalss on the ends of the track so it's all in a box. That is a GREAT setup!
You have created something awesome that you should be truly proud of. Well done, good sir .... well done.
- Spool Heads is definitely my go to for track pieces. And that’s my wife sitting next to the track. The first time a car hit the plexiglass on that end at speed, she gave me a big thumbs up so I knew have a quiet trip home lol — ChiefWopahoo
- Definitely dodged a bullet (or a Hot Wheel!) there, amigo. Happy wife, no strife. — SpyDude
Great setup, and I do love that it's separate lane from start to finish.
- Thanks, although it can make for some pretty cool videos I'm more into the separated lane racing. — ChiefWopahoo
That's awesome! Been wanting a portable track for local events for kids to play on. Do you have video of your track in action?
- I do. I'll post a link soon once I can get them loaded onto youtube — ChiefWopahoo
- Just posted a video here of a typical run — ChiefWopahoo
