First set of Hot Ones axles - whats next?

Rabbit Saturday, 7/29/2023

Ive finally got my hands on a pin straight set of 80s hot ones thin axles - out of the gate i already noticed increased acceleration!

However; ive noticed there seems to be an inside edge/raised portion (almost like camber) on each wheel - should these be sanded off so the entire surface area of the wheel touches the track?

Also - should hot ones axles always be fixed in place?

Its my first set and i only have one so i really dont want to screw the pooch on these - i can really see the potential!

Always JB Weld down the axels and if the wheels have a raised edge leave it on. The less wheel surface that hits the track the less friction and more speed you get.

  • I respect anything you might have to say about race modding cause you are ong the best in the world. So I don't ask this question lightly. Is it not possible that the raised edge is molding line from production and there by possibly very rough and unsettling to the balance of the wheel.? suggesting that a light sanding can take off that rough edge and smooth out the rolling resistance?? — Garden_Super_Speedway_Park
