Gasser Challenge Discussion
. . .as far as weight, the under 35G's cars have been competitive... I.M.O. split the 40 to 50 and set it at 45G'S...
The heavier cars beat up the front axles, gassers will have semi exposed axles...
I agree. 45 grams sounds good. If we go really heavyweight with these... the cars really take a pounding...and I'm afraid my cars will fall apart. You know, attaching that axle below and those whimpy little tires up front.
Good with 45g. I'm in for 2 cars.
one time race at Carls place?
Carlsbad Dragstrip.... count me in for a pair... i will set fred up, but only if we need the extra entries... to give the regulars the chance to enter first... whats our deadline carl ?
Given enough time, I'd be willing to give this a go. 442 gasser?
Does the Passin' Gasser base fit a lot of different frames with only a bit of modifications? It looks sort of narrow.
keep your base and add the axles you want, skinny up front, meats out back, j.b. rivit the new axle under the base... and the rear axle where the stocker was....hog the rear wheel wells... lane two for 442
Passin' Gasser does fit alot of cars, i have the chassis under half a dozen builds including one right now!
But you can also do as Smitty says, just relocate the axle to the underside of the chassis in front.
I'm in.
The Hurricane wants to build a set of cars too. That's four cars coming from the TXDRA stable.
watch out gasser guys, it's hurricane season
Given enough time, I'd be willing to give this a go. . .
Something we haven't discussed is a cut-off date for entries. How much time do we need? I for one haven't built or tested ANY what I'd call racable cars yet.
Just strolled through this thread and I saw 7 and possibly 8 teams:
Econocarl
Jobe
Model40fan
Variation Jason
Tastelikedirt
JDC442
The Hurricane
and possibly WorpeX
Is there anybody else out the who wants to join in on the fun?
Sorry guys, i'm going to have to pass. I don't have the necessary skill needed to mod up a good gasser. Looks like fun though! Can't wait to see the wacky designs you guys come up with!
stockers, they're more custom kemps than gassers but swoop coupes have releases with "gasser wheels"
a plastic base with "gasser wheels" is fenderless '33 roadster...
cut the grill off a no-mad base, weld your "gasser axle" under the front, '41 willys body lines-up nicely...
can't wait to see what cars enter... don 't forget matchbox castings...
F.T.R., (for the record) weights are from random releases...
passin' gasser = 28.6 Grams... '41 willys = 33.4 Grams... neet streeter = 44.2 Grams... '47 fleetline = 38.3 Grams...
shoebox = 39.7 Grams...'40 ford cpe. = 43.5 Grams... fat fendered '40 = 65.3 Grams... '40 woodie = 51.6 Grams...
'56 pick-up = 38.9 Grams... '33 willys coupe = 39.0 Grams... '32 vicky = 38.9 Grams... '32 delivery = 44.6 Grams...
'34 coupe = 43.0 Grams... '56 t bird = 31.5 = Grams... no-mad = 42.9 Grams...
