Gasser Challenge Discussion
Glad to see more interest!
Whats the deadline and where are we sending them?
We're still deciding on a deadline. I will be hosting a race (address to come later) and others are welcome to do so as well.
you can count me in carl, unless of course this is to be the famous "TEXAS GASSER WARS" ? gasser war # 1 carl, # 2 jason, # 3 bryan 25, # 4 bryan 50, # 5 jason, # 6 finals-carl....
don't want to leave grabbergt out, he might want a hand in setting the lone star state's battle plan...
get the flag girls ready
From another thread:
. . . you think two apiece is enough to keep the racers happy... bryan has shown us 6, we've seen 4 from half fast. jason's got a herd, i have a quartet... these things look so good i hate to stop anyone from getting gassed... maybe a photo shoot of the un-entered gassers...
IMO for now we should limit this to two cars per entrant. The goal is to get more people to start building cars, not to overwhelm them.
I do like the idea of a photo shoot of the Gassers!
How much time do we need before we start racin'?
I'm in no hurry, I'd like to see more people building cars.
Not meant to intimidate....well maybe!
Those are photos of cars I've built in the past, I'll be building new ones probably, have one in the works as well.
I'm also not in a big hurry as I'm already swamped with my real job, my family and my second job, and working on my car and my truck and my house.......................ahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
i just noticed that _ _ t _ _ _ _ _ _ 's gasser legal front axle seems to spin a bit better than shift kicker, rat bomb or madfast.. and no you can not buy a vowel...
can I get some funk then? funkytown!
My local Big Lots got a few cases of Hot Wheels in before Christmas and never again. I was able to pick up 6 Astro Funks a couple days ago and there are still at least 3 hanging. Good thing, because the first set I took off and "customized" I ruined by trimming them. Luckily there were 5 more Astro Funks sitting next to me waiting to get ripped open and cut up.
i got carried away, cut up a Johnny Lightning '33 willys pick up for gassing... BUT... the base is so thin [top to bott.] that stuffing the axle under the base hardly shows....looks like a street rod...so, at $ 3.00 plus cut at your own risk
ALSO i read that pass'n gasser's base was too narrow, and i know that all our scrap piles are different, but a '34 coupe base has a good wheelbase for getting gassed, and the running board / headers are perfect for supporting most gasser bodies.
. . . I was able to pick up 6 Astro Funks . . .
Never know what you might need as for as donor cars! I'm sure glad I picked a lot of the Madfast and Astro Funks cars a while back.

GASSER SCRAPS... cut the scoop off "mad fast's" mill [hacksaw]...cut a slot front to back [hacksaw]... round over the top of the blower belt...[file]
snip 2/3 of "astro funk's" induction off... trim... glue or j.b.weld, then slide the dual quads into the slot...
...all metal, looks good... and from GASSER scraps !

econo-carl is the challenge host, date is T.B.A. [ the front doesn't have to be higher than the rear, small front wheels and huge meats make that tough...] ... carl has the look pegged...
