Hot Wheels vending machine in a mall

Sunshine_City_Garage Saturday, 10/25/2025

So I was watching a YouTube channel called Retail Archaeology where he was walking through a mall in Arizona and at time stamp 2:54. Nothing this cool is ever in Florida.

Yeah, they have some cool stuff in there. Been a while since I've visted that mall at Arizona Mills (Tempe). I'll have to go again sometime.

I figured an old shack machine could be made to handle cars.

would be perfect for a racing venue.  always put a treasure hunt at the rear of every stack...lol

Only HW vending machine I saw was at a convention and it was setup as a prize thing and loaded with fancy editions. I wonder (kinda assume) that each row in the vending machine is all the same casting...I mean, it'd have to right?

What I don't know about is that $5.50 price tag!! Unless it's a limited edish series or something. But if it was just a mainline vending machine for maybe $2 a pop, I'd probably use it if there was a casting I'd want.

  • $2 each, or 3 for $5 on mainlines would be reasonable — dr_dodge

On the general topic of Hot Wheels vending machines, many examples I have seen but online and not in person, beware a hot take cometh, and that right soon

This is scalping with extra steps. Never have I seen prices on these in the same galaxy as reasonable. But, I'm cheap, and "Mama only lets me spend $3 a car at the antique shop"

we lived in a tiny town is mo. for a while.  I bought a used soda machine for $50.  then bought $10 in soda and a buck in nickels.  8 years later when I got out of the soda machine business, that $60 returned

3 more machines, (I figured out how to fix them, and would sell them outright, $250 ea)
30-40 cases of soda.
well over $1000 cash over those 8 years.

If you had a place to put one, they aren't too bad

pretty cheap business to start.  just need a place toput it
