How Wheels Race Car Break-In?

gtaman Friday, 2/3/2017

I have heard that cars roll better with some wheel wear...

Do you guys think that is the case, and if so how are you doing it.

I thought about using something like a belt sander upside down to "break-in" the wheels on my factory cars.

I twist the wheel in all directions, without bending the axle is one way. For Carte Blanche, I added a lot of weights on top of the car, then I moved the car around to allow the weight to smooth out the inside of the wheel.

Also at C4, before every stock race, we rub our entries on our shirt sleeves until the wheels spin longer.

I'm uncertain if this is "old news" but it seems that Indonesian racers have come up with this unique, portable device to help solve break-in issues. They're made in single, dual, and 3-car configurations. Looks like a device that would serve us well...if they ever become available here.

Here's the link to the online store for the 3-car spinner...not sure they ship international. Looks like they have 1 and 2 car versions as well. Although...and I'm not sure Google is doing things right (or if I am)...but when I convert the 260 Rupee price tag into American dollars, it's only like $4. Shipping would probably be murder but even then...

Update: Just realized that I don't think the price is in Rupees, which is India. There is also Indonesian Rupiah currency, which turns out to be even cheaper. 260 Rupiahs is equal to 2 cents American...?!?! Weird. Gimme 100! ;P

Anyway...

But...I have to admit that I used a Hot Wheels shooter thing to do the same thing before I send in cars. It's not as nice as the one in the video since I have to hold the car itself but I do let the wheels run a bit. Figure the extra wear on the axles can't hurt at least.

One of things things:

  • Build a one lane oval with track, curves and a booster is a great way to break in cars...set the speed andwalk away...come back later. — LeagueofSpeed
  • Good idea. might play with that. — redlinederby
  • I've got the curves if you need them — LeagueofSpeed

The harder plastic of the 6 Lane Raceway seems to break them in quicker than regular orange track does, the majority of the cars seem to become quicker after 100 runs, but then again you'd have to have a 6 Lane Raceway to test the theory, but I stand by it myself....just my 2 cents.
