I'm in Heaven !
I never realized that there was a Website dedicated to Hot Wheel racing !
I have been racing Hot Wheels since I can remember. My two older brothers and I would set up race tracks in our living room. Didn't everyone hate the yellow Mattel starter ?! My brothers fastest was a green Playing Mantis. Mine was a red Peeping Bomb ! We never did agree who's was fastest. For the last 40 years I have kept up with the latest technologies ! Hot Ones, Ultra Hots, VW bus, FTE. My Peeping Bomb was overtaken by a Silver Bullet Ultra Hot. Then that was overtaken by a FTE Way 2 Fast. I really don't think this car will ever be beaten. When is the next mail-in race ?

When is the next mail-in race ?
First of all, welcome to the site Jamaharv!
Texas Diecast Racing has a Series starting this Sunday. You'd have to send your cars tomorrow via "next day" freight (only $5.20 USPS) to get into that one! The rules are here: http://texasdiecastracing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=117
There is discussion here on the forums about getting a "Featherweight Challenge" started toward the end of January or first of February. It's pretty much a run-what-ya-brung Series with the weight being under 35 grams. Rules for this Series should be posted soon.
Again, welcome to the site, and hope to be racing ya' soon!
Do it!
Hi Jama, welcome to Redline Derby! Wow...lots of new members arriving recently, glad to have all of you join!! Sounds like you're well versed in racing so I'm sure you'll be right at home with all the conversation here in the forums. Everything from modding to track building to live events. Please check out the Redline Derby blog and hop on over to the Fantasy League game and see what it's all about too. The game is on break until the Spring but you should be able to get the idea during the off-season.
If you have any questions about Redline Derby just post or PM me. Hope you have fun hanging out here.
I have a question for everyone. Do you think that a car that coasts the farthest will automatically be the fastest car ?
So, you take ten cars. Roll them down a long track (obviously start them in the same spot). The car that rolls the farthest should be the fastest car. Agree ?
first of all, yes do that, and take some pix if you can, it would be good info, most racers will find that interesting...
. what's cool with the multi-track racing ; a short, shallow pitch track with a long run out should favor the COASTER !
but with a longer, higher pitched incline, and a shorter run out, winning may favor the well fed...
. I.M.O...... race [ stuffed ] COASTERS...
If you're doing your rolling on a flat surface, then no, I don't believe the farthest coaster would necessarily be the fastest down a hill. There probably is some correlation but the speed of a car is more than just good roll ability...although that's a big part of it. I've seen many cars that don't roll as far beat out ones that do in downhill races because they're better built for it. Weight has a lot to do with the downhill part and where that weight is located. The energy pushing the car is more important even if that car has "lesser" wheels.
But that would be a great test experiment to record and see what you can find out. As long as you could keep things as even as possible, I think that would be great data.

The distance that a car will coast on a level surface might be a viable way to compare do.
How do you insert a photo into a reply ?
HEY HOW DO THEY DO THAT ?"
Welcome, jamaharv! Heaven??...ok, I'll go with that.
Peeping Bomb, eh? I also favor the old, heavy castings...none of those in my arsenal though.
