Indonesian diecast dyno/break-in machine

It's well known that Indonesian diecast enthusiasts take thier racing pretty seriously. The device(s) being demonstrated in the video below have been in use there for many years but haven't been easily obtainable in N. America.

It's quite a sensible device when you think about it. You can perform a complete break-in without putting the car on a track. You can do pre-race warm-ups while lubing and tuning accordingly. How many times have you watched a stock FTE get faster and faster in successive runs? A dyno warm-up allows you get the best performance out that same car on the first run.

After a little digging, I've finally found the source of the Indonesian dynos. They use the modified chassis/motor/drivetrain from Tamiya Dangun Racers.

These were 1/32nd scale free-running electric cars that were much like oversized HW Sizzlers. From what I've gathered, they were "all the rage" in some parts of the world but were discontinued by Tamiya about 20 years ago. They were available in different chassis and drivetrain configurations and many performance mods were available. However, while discontinued, there are still several of these cars and components gathering dust on vendor's shelves right here in N. America. The link below is the best deal I've found thus far.

I've already recieved 1 kit and have more on the way. I'm going to attempt installing 5 or 6 of them in a plastic tackle box.

An interesting idea, and one well worth looking into.  Thank you for the tips!

I use an old belt sander

No sandpaper but I cut an old microfibre polishing cloth to fit and attatched it with double sided tape. Works well for graphiting (is that a word?) Just got to be careful not to go too fast with the sanders' speed otherwise the microfibre disintegrates!

good idea,

I have 1/2 dozen crash racer cars when I bought the track sets

need to dig one out and see how mod able it is

Nice idea. I have used my Crash Racers cars to do a similar job, but I just hand hold them. I really like that little holder idea, much easier to handle plus being able to do multiple cars at a time is very handy and would speed things up
