Last race results and some photos

Raced last night in the muggy heat that is Austin Texas this time of year.
The seamless track expanded about 3/8" in length because of the heat (vs. the indoors of my house)

Ran my 16 car buy-in race first, went really well and I think everyone really enjoyed their chances at winning 16 cars!
I did a lottery pick, for $1 you got to pick a number out of a box. number 1 got first pick and so forth on down the line.
I failed to take any photos, too busy manning the track but a Sooo Fast won it all.

Then on to stock class, managed to get a full 16 car bracket filled. Some really close races in this class with the top 3 cars being a Batmobile FTE, Bone Shaker FTE in second and the winner of the 16 car challenge taking the win! Great story is this is a friend of a friend I invited to come out and he ends up cleaning house! Way to go Tim!

Then Modified! Think I had 10 or 12 racers in modified with some heavy hitters. Brian's mail-in Mustang was up first against my pal Morgan's frankenstien ride...see photos...don't ask...it weighs a lot. Unfortunately Brian got run out in the first race...sorry Brian. That race came down to a bitchin' little Matchbox old school Cooper Mini and Morgan's van, not sure of the model info but I'll get it...and it was pretty close. That mini is a mean little mother and holds tight despite how small it is.

Great night of racing, little less turn out in stock than usual but with the buy-in race it went well and was enough action for the evening. We then held some test runs of other cars and I tested Soccer Mom (see modified post) against the fastest modifides...and Soccer Mom is a force to be reckoned with! I'm stoked to try it on the 50' track of Jason this weekend and see how it holds up.

Here are some photos I managed to take. First ones are of the few cars that were there when I showed up early, including a shot of the track folded up in my 62 caddy! New starting gate and lane numbers (I proceeded to break my plexi later in the evening after all the racing was done...moving to Lexan next). Final shot is the Weiners of the races. Runners up got 2 Mystery cars, Stock got a cool Halloween Special Edition car in a case and Modified got the set of Hot Rod Magazine 4 car set from 1998.

Wow, that is a super-modified! No shame in losing to that monster!

Looks like a combo of Bye Focal II and a Fast Fish?

Well...at least I can leave knowing my car looked better But I guess it wasn't a beauty pageant, huh?

Fun stuff! Having races at a hot rod bar looks like the best thing ever!!

Good sport there Brian, thanks for taking the time to send in the car.

It's a lot of fun running the races, the only drawback is I don't get to visit with everyone.

Also got about a dozen cars donated to my hospital event stash, that was cool.

Thanks for sharing the photos Bryan! I love what you're doing down there.
Bet you're liking that new start gate huh?

I was pretty upset to here Brian's beautifully modified official RDR Stang got beat by that ugly Frankenstein creation. No justice!!

The new start gate works great, everyone really liked it and now anyone can operate it which I like.
Unfortunately I was getting a little excited talking about how the kids at the hospital were beating the hell out of it and it didn't break...then I broke it demonstrating what they were doing! Have a friend in the sign industry getting be a piece of Lexan, which is what they make bullet proof glass out of.

Glad I have some people to share this with, I'm always excited for race day and want to do it more often!

Your blog is top notch!!
You are correct the Frankenstein is a custom not a Modified… I won the class with a Modified van, it appears to be stock in appearance … but it’s not …
I will get some pictures up soon.
I inspected the RDR mustang at the race ..Very nice, good job !!
I am Morgan … AKA.. Moe
