So yesterday I discovered that Stagefright was based on an actual car.

Yes, and it was a really awesome ride. I saw it once on the car show circuit.
The Boot HIll Express was also another real ride--I actually got to lay my hand on one of the massive rear wheels at a car show in Santa Clara, CA.

  • I'd not heard of the boot hill express either, which looks rad. Spydude, that sounds like a Hell of a great car show! — Sunshine_City_Garage
  • My father built the model of the Boothill Express when it was first released. His box of assembled models (that he stored in the attic after he no longer cared) became fun demolition cars for me. — LobotomyScam
  • I used to go to a LOT of car shows, and got some great pictures of some cool stuff. I've also met in person Shirley Muldowney, Roy Brizio, Chip Foose, George Barris, Arlen Ness, and "Big Daddy" Ed Roth. — SpyDude

Up here we've got the L. L. Bean Bootmobile, based on the famous LL Bean Boot.

And of course Wisconsins famous Oscar Mayer Weinermobile!

  • Love the bewitched! — Sunshine_City_Garage
  • The Raider's Coach was a Barris custom. I did a full writeup of it on my Facebook group page. Sadly, the car was cut up and destroyed. — SpyDude

I have personally seen all of these vehicles:

Boot Hill Express.

Ed Newton's Roach Koach
Christine

Ed Roth Mega Cycle

The ZZ Top "Eliminator" Coupe

The BTTF DeLorean

The LandMaster from DAMNATION ALLEY

The Bonnie and Clyde cars, in Primm, NV

  • It would be interesting to see a Landmaster casting. Have thought about an rc car build, but it got expensive pretty quickly. — Object52
  • Hey Spydude, that is a cool bunch of cars! I would have loved to have seen the Bonnie and Clyde and the Landmaster and the Stagefright one of my favorite Hot Wheels as a kid. Coolness. — Sunshine_City_Garage
  • @Sunshine: The Bonnie and Clyde cars are in Primm, Nevada, at Whiskey Pete's. The LandMaster was in L.A., parked in a lot alongside the freeway (along with two cars from Logan's Run.) Stagefright was actually here in Old Tucson Studios last year or so. — SpyDude
