Lightweight Race

- Rust Belt Raceway Park under construction -
Would you guys be interested if I hosted a lightweight race? Instead of adding weight, you'd be removing it. I ran one in my Facebook group and it was pretty fun. It comes down to axels, wheels and alignment since the car barely weighs anything. I was surprised how fast some of them were.

I'm thinking a 20g max.

Host away!!!

  • Sweet! Can’t decide which track to use so I’ll run some tests when I finish the open track this weekend. — RustBeltRacing

I’m interested!

Now that is an interesting idea. I like the theory a lot.

Awesome...a great challenge, right there! Not sure my workshop will be organized to enter but I'll do my best to try.

  • I think it’ll be a ways out when I start hosting. Got a lot of tweaking to do. — RustBeltRacing

I'd go with 25g if it was my call...

...just saying

  • I was right between 20 and 25 when I scaled up some stripped cars so No preference on my end. — RustBeltRacing

Shoot 20G stripper race?  Im in.  Do everything you can to get it down under the max weight!  I just went to my scrap pile and put together a sub 10g car that still has interior and glass so 20g is easy work.

If you decide to run it let us know and Ill join!

Matt

  • For sure man! 10g with glass and interior?? Was it missing the base and wheels? Haha — RustBeltRacing
  • It's got it all, body, chassis, glass, interior and wheels! It's made from pieces I had laying around from making a heavier version. Itll likely become my entry if we do this! — Mattman213
  • Oh it’s happening so get her ready! — RustBeltRacing
  • Post up the specifics and a due date when you have it sorted and count me in then! — Mattman213
  • I have a couple cars at 15g I had to add weight to also. The fun part of this race is that getting under 20 means you have to find really lightweight stuff, which is part of the fun. Great idea on this race! — customLEDbikes
  • I’m excited to see what you send man. You’ve been putting out some great work! — RustBeltRacing

Looking forward to this race. Started working on a car throwing everything out of it and getting the weight under 20g. This is an interesting race theme, love it!

  • I thought it would be a fun challenge for builders who are used to adding weight haha — RustBeltRacing
  • I have 2 cars ready to go. Finished modding them today, just gotta add some speed dust to em — customLEDbikes

Lets do it! "Stripper Race" ........ :)  Ops, I meant LightWeight 20G Race

I'd be up for trying although my workshop is basically not existent right now!

Can we make it a 2 car entry 40g total between the 2 cars? I’m sure we all have a few cars that are super light weight that we’d like to see how they do and not many races to put them in, this is the chance to use our strippers;)

  • I was thinking about a combined 50g next. Like a rally team race. My new track I'm building is basically a downhill slalom and the light cars would be total mayhem! — RustBeltRacing
  • Sounds good to me, I have more lead to add to them to beef them up — customLEDbikes

In pondering...22g might just be the sweet spot...all I got...

When are we sending cars in for this race?

  • I gotta finish up the track first. I don't know if you watch last night's race but I have the mock up done. Just need to finish the start gate and get everything permanently in place. I'm thinking June will work best. — RustBeltRacing
  • Sweet! This’ll be fun race to watch. Excited to see everyone’s mods too — customLEDbikes
