I saw on the LJLRC Facebook page, that the March cars (the 2nd race) will be limited to 50 grams...I just wanted to pass that along here.

Is there a reason for the weight change? If they are going to race together at the end of the year, I would think you'd want to keep the weight the same. I don't really have a preference, I was just curious

Chris that is a great question let me talk it over with Bill and some of the other race committee members. Lets plan on the same weight every month.

Ok here is my question to everyone. Instead of having a fastest of the year in our Modified Class we can just have a monthly trophy or medal winner. This would allow us to change the weight every month. If not we would keep the weight 100 grams or less every month and we would have a fastest car of the class in December. I think we should change it up every month. Let me know what you think!

It's your race...you set the rules and I'll build the cars to them :) For my 2 cents, I like building mid-weight cars, in the 50-70 gram range...you get over that, and you are packing a lot of lead in there. A fast 57 gram car can be pretty quick and easier to build.

Looking at it from racing pine wood derby cars, supporting two leagues every month might be a problem for some folks.  Have some classes with set weights would be nice.  That way a person has time to test and tune improving the car.  To change up the weight each month would not really allow folks to fine tune and see improvement over time.  I think depending on what the powers to be want there are some good options out there to.  You could have a pony car class, street rod class, truck class, unlimited class as an example.  Set the weight limit and have class winners race at the end of the hear and call it the Die Cast Racing National Championship.  Just thinking out loud, have a great time.

For me the challenge of these races is the track record. That is what I’m chasing, regardless of weight, wheels, rules, etc. I want to build the fastest car the LJLRC has seen on its track.  Current record holder is a Johnny Lightning BWF 1969 Camaro, 62g,  2.192 seconds.  To date I think the fastest RLD car ever run is 2.20, 2.21.  I’d like to see a custom built car beat the stock factory built car. Lots of great builders here on RLD let’s get that track record!

How can we do that here at RDL with so many different track set-ups.  Would it be possible to maybe have just a short and long track configuration?  To really set records there should be a set track up with a divided stop section for the cars.

Okay here is what the powers that be at the Lincoln Johnny Lightning Race Club decided to do with our new Modified Class. Instead of having a fastest car of the year in this class we are going to change up the weight each month to keep it interesting. We will award the first place winner each month with either a trophy or medal that will showcase a cool logo. 100 grams or less for February and in March it will be 50 grams or less. So in saying this please get your car or cars mailed out and please include your return shipping along with racing money. Its 50 cents per car to race! Not a bad deal 2 for 1.00!!!! Thank you for supporting the LJLRC
