Modding a Pony
Started working on modding a Mustang for entry into one of Jobe's drag. Still a long ways to go, but I took the FTE wheels off a ZR1 and adding it to regular Pony, back wheel is bigger. Fixed the axles and sanded the tires a bit. Had to grind out the rear wheel wells to make room for the fatter tires. Plan on packing on some clay for added weight and I'm wondering if a stack of pennies in the right spot will help? Hmmm...
Once I'm happy with the mod, it gets a coat of paint, logo, and on to Texas to win!! Ha!
Discussion
Can't wait to see the final product.
If you do win in the Austin Drags, there may be complaints about the 'Outsiders' who keep winning and we won't be allowed to enter anymore...too many angry Texans!!!
Just kidding, I'm sure they'll be good sports about it
Good luck, and bring home a prize for Ohio!
All's fair in racing, if you ask me! I welcome the competition. Sounds like the local mod class there in Texas is a little lacking, so if having a bunch of outsiders win and piss them off gets a few more people to join in the fun, then I don't mind S'all good.
Bring it on suckas!
I'm off to vacation land and won't be around for over a week...see ya when I get back.
Next race is the 9th so get it done and get it in the mail.
I'll PM you my work address.

Looking good. I might have to mail one in myself, lol
I finally setup my track and gave this modded Mustang a trial run...it smokes pretty well. The FTE tires combined with a trunk full of clay had this car consistently outpacing the almighty Land Rover from last season. Gotta slap on some decals and then it's on to Texas for complete domination!
Sounds like you've created a monster!
Go get 'em!!
Do post a pic of the final product.
You say that you "sanded the tires a little bit" how did you do it? I've noticed that alot of my cars have wheels that are not perfectly round. Short of some kind of micro lathe I can't figure how to true the wheels.
I just used a very fine sanding stick that I got from the hobby store. I really just sanded down the little plastic "nub" ring that seems to exist on the inside of the tire, I think where the plastic got squeezed in the mold. I can't say I've really paid attention to notice is tires are not entirely round, I just looked for blemishes that might cause a bumpy ride.
For all I know, I could have made it worse with my sanding...but when I ran the car it kept up with the Land Rover, which is good enough for me. I dunno what type of competition I'll have in Jobe's league down there in Texas, but if anyone can mod a car that goes faster than that Land Rover and thus my mod too, more power too 'em. I shall bow down before modding awesomeness.
Look what's about to be on its way to Texas!
More details and photos of the build coming soon. Gonna post it in the blog this week.
uh oh, better warn the locals! Can't wait to have some mail in modifieds!
Man I love the look of the cars in bare metal with FTE wheels.
