So I'm going to take over... Everything will be as the previously scheduled event except I will host. The rules are copy and pasted from the original post. I figured we all built these cars let's fracking run em!

Muscle Mania is a race that consists of 3 categories:

  • American Muscle
  • American Street
  • Low Riders

Some Racing Veterans may remember our November race as American Muscle. That category is still viable and will still be recognized as American Muscle for this year, but there will no longer be a separate Stock and Modified Divisions. Stocks will be racing mods in all 3 categories of the new setup. Hot Wheels produced the mainline line of Muscle Mania in which you have 3 types of castings with definite differences, hence the 3 categories of Muscle Mania 2021.

Please pay attention to the year models listed for the different Categories

Examples:

  • 67 Plymouth GTX is American Street and 71 Plymouth GTX is American Muscle
  • 65 Pontiac GTO is American Street and 67 Pontiac GTO is American Muscle
  • Low Riders will be self explanatory

American Street is a category that I created with the help of MDG Racing. The specs on a American Street casting will become evident as you start prepping for the Race.

Rules & restrictions

  • Stock and modified entries allowed
  • 65g max maximum weight
  • 1/64 scale, check the 3 categories for eligible castings
  • Team must be 2 Cars. If racing in all 3 categories that would be 6 cars
  • Retail axles and wheels only. FTE/NPA axles allowed...axel tubing allowed.
  • Dry lube only
  • Team is 2 cars
  • No exterior weight. Car must keep orginal silhouette and body.
  • Absolutely NO WHEEL WELL hogging. Castings must keep original track stance and the tucked wheels
  • Builds must look like a American production car. Like something you'd see on the street (aka original body)

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host on or before Wednesday, 1/20/21. Racing is scheduled for Saturday, 1/23/21. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

How to enter

Contact the tournament host to get the shipping address for entry.

Include at least $5.00 for return shipping if you want your entries back. Entries not getting returned will be given to the winner as part of the prize.

Include a Race Entry ID slip with your entry

Track

Racing will be on the Tecumseh Proving Grounds. View track profile and specs

Race format and scoring

This will be a single-elimination tournament. A car will move on in the bracket only when it wins two races in a row. Cars will alternate lanes between each race.

The car that wins the final race will be declared the winner. Race host has final decision in all races.

Bracket seeding will be random.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

Prizes

Trophy and Bragging Rights

There will be 3 capped fields of 32 Teams/64 Cars. Team must be 2 cars.

The 3 Fields:

  • American Muscle
  • American Street
  • Low Riders

Please see the castings list provided in the thread below for eligible castings

Is the due date still Nov, 11?  And... Are we using the same list as before?

  • I think that date is wrong and left over from copy/paste. Nick will update soon. — redlinederby

  • Thank you — NDeavers80
  • HW Fish n Chipped is still a rules hypocrite. — Uncle_Elvis
  • Hush now! It's what I'm sending for my low rider, so I think it's great. — GenX_VintageRacing
  • Why is it a rules hypocrite? — NDeavers80
  • 1. I ain't mad or anything, just carrying on a conversation I started with LOS' s original post. 2. Rules state (for all three categories): " Builds must look like a American production car." Fish N Chipped is a Jag — Uncle_Elvis
  • Fair enough — NDeavers80
  • Let's not change this rule right now, as I've been building a Fish'd and Chip'd for this for months. — GenX_VintageRacing
  • I'm not changing it — NDeavers80
  • I never said change it. Besides, if you changed it, I could not complain about it — Uncle_Elvis
  • I know you didn't — NDeavers80

I'm in for 6 cars! I made Cheech's 64 Impala the Love Machine to enter in the low rider division and am excited to see it compete.

  • I love it — NDeavers80
  • DUDE .......... that is awesome. Now you just need a driver in there. — SpyDude
  • Thank You Ndevers80 — GoldenOwl
  • Thank You SpyDude — GoldenOwl
  • it needs some smoke rolling out the windows as it rolls down the track — Mayfield41
  • Rules say no weight outside the vehicle, LOL! - Mayfield41 — GoldenOwl
  • He needs to figure out how to mount a micro smoke machine in there for the realistic effects ............. Believe it or not, I've seen guys use rigged vape cigarettes for exactly that purpose in the model railroading world. — SpyDude
  • Just fill the inside with cotton — NDeavers80
  • Love it. How did you do the antennas? — TheMakersBox
  • Wow that’s crazy SpyDude! I bet it looks cool — GoldenOwl
  • NDevers80 Nice idea. I’ll work on something and get some pictures. I like seeing the interior. I made sure to match the colors of his shag interior. — GoldenOwl
  • Thank you MakersBox! I used a bristle from a small grey dust broom. That way the are flexible and can withstand the abuse they take while racing — GoldenOwl
  • GoldenOwl: the vape cigarette mechanism is more or less the same kind of mechanism used for making realistic smoke on model trains. — SpyDude
  • Just put some in the back window and trail a little but out the sides — NDeavers80
  • I’m going to have to play around with these ideas, I’ll need to take it apart anyway. It rolled of the shelf and now the wheels are all screwed up. It went from a fast straight racer to a funky looking nascar. It only wants to turn left lol — GoldenOwl
