My $5 eBay find

A Silver Streak Matchbox(?) Lesney production. It's a cool looking car right off the bat however, the wheels and axles are totally shot. And the body is pretty dinged up from what were years of playtime. So sometime between now and summer I hope to have this on a race track. This will only be the second rebuild of any kind of I've attempted. So I'll try to post some progress pics along the way.

Here is another eBay find that I hope to do some restoration work that arrived this morning. This is a 1983 hot wheels Sol-Aire CX3 that I really like the looks of. Lotta playtime on this one, including a bent spoiler. Looking forward to some level of restoration on this. It comes in at a whopping 57 g.

Very cool. Matchbox Cars Wiki reveals it to be a 1978 only Roman Numerals Limited Editions version of the 1971-1975 Mod Rod. I had a Mod Rod as a kid in the standard (and I thought only) yellow with Cheetah sticker livery. Never saw your version before and encourage you to check out Matchbox Fandom to see it with tampos.

I not too long ago won an insane eBay deal on a lot of eight Matchbox Super GTs ($0.95 + $6.85 shipping). The Super GT Series was a 1980s rerelease of popular 70s castings cheaped up with plastic bases, no interiors, no engines or scoops, and small wheels. Your Roman Numerals car has its engine, original wheel sizes, and a unique metal base (says "Silver Streak" instead of "Mod Rod"). Curious about whether it has an interior. I didn't find any other substantial info about the Roman Numerals Series but your find has certainly peaked my interest.

I wonder what other rerelease series are out there waiting to be discovered. One thing is for certain in this hobby...there are so many thousands of rare, limited production castings out there available for cheap that each of us can have a uniquely unrecreatable collection.
