My first paint jobs

Jobe Monday, 8/16/2010

Man it's been a long time since I painted a car or model. Started these yesterday, did some finishing touches today and put them back together. Green is Testors Lime Ice in a spray can. Blue is Rustoleum Metallics Blue I had laying around. Did a little detail work on the door handles and such.

Nice job! Love that green. I just found that GTO Wagon last week and I love it. Those big, fat cars are some of my favorites. The SS Wagon too.

Did you prime the metal first, or just spray on the color? Just wondering because I always prime first but never really sprayed without priming to know if it really makes a difference.

I need to hit up the hobby store for some "real" model paint and colors. I've been using spray cans from Home Depot that come pre-glossy and stuff. They cover well but can be kind of thick, plus limits my colors. If I want something cool and sparkly then I need to shell out for the good stuff.

I stripped to bare metal and primered. Then I rubbed it down with a paper towel and painted then detail work then clear.
Yes the model paint is nice but $5 for a small can, but it should paint quite a few cars. Home Depot sells the Rustoleum Metallics that I used on the truck, comes in Silver, Copper, blue and a cool black that I'm using on a Charger SRT right now.

I didn't realize the set up and drying time on the decals, haven't tried it yet.
