Which 2019/2020 Hot Wheels are fast?

TJ_Dunbar78 Thursday, 6/18/2020

I've been looking around in different places for fast downhill drag cars that are made in 2019 and 2020.  The best castings I've found are the yellow lancer evolution from the rally racing series and the orange jaguar from the exotic series.  If anyone has found some consistently fast castings from the last two years, let it be known so everyone can look for some cars at target , Walmart , and dollar general instead of paying out the nose for fast older cars.

Ford gt40...black lancer evolution...roger dodger 2.0

  • I have a rodger dodger 2.0... It's not very quick so not sure if that one is consistent.. I own some ridiculously fast stockers, but not sure if they're consistent: Custom Ford Maverick, Nissan Fairlady Z, and the Mazda RX-7 to name a few. — MrFishyFish
  • It has to be the black and gold one — SavageSpeeder
  • How does color make a difference to the speed? — MrFishyFish
  • technically it shouldn't... year shouldn't either... however for example 2014 clear speeder is the best clear speeder. It's one of those fluke things. another example would be rocket league gazella gt is faster than the black one. 7.5 outta 10 color/year doesn't matter per casting but sometimes it does... just gotta get lucky. again I'm NOT saying ALL RL gazella gts are fast BUT most are. hope this helps and don't forget to sub to Stuff 'N More Hotwheels. — SavageSpeeder
  • It's more about build quality that year rather than color. Color just happens to be easiest way to differenciate the different variations. Some years they could be built in a different factory with higher quality materials. Maybe they have a good batch of axels that year or the machine was lined up perfect to put the pieces together. Also, Mattel will change castings periodically so sometimes so some years will be with a slower version of the cast. That said, I can confirm the black/gold Rodger Doger is quite fast! — WorpeX
  • Worpex said it best my way was the simple way. — SavageSpeeder

This is nuts!!! I was literally about to make a discussion group for this same exact topic today!!! I concur about the fastest in 2019-2020 thus far. The Jaguar XJ220 (orange) and GT40 are the fastest castings consistently. The others have not been fast, on my track at least. I haven't been able to race the yellow Evo yet, but I'll be on the look out.

I would suggest you go over onto D64 youtube channel, and watch the Hot Off the Shelf class, which is part of their monthly racing.

The pink indy 500 oval is not blistering fast but consistently above average. We will have a video with it in the coming weeks over on the STUFF 'N MORE HOTWHEELS YT channel. I believe it was produced in 2019.

Lancer Evolution and Jag XJ220 fastest I have

  • It just seems they don’t make as many fast cars as they once did. — TJ_Dunbar78
  • Yes Blue Line, I think you have nailed the usual suspects! Cheers mate. — CutRock_R_Marc_D

The Speed Index has falling off drastically since 2013...you could find a lot more Speed spread out across casting designs up until 2013...after that it appears the QC went south somewhat, with most of the problem being with the wheels themselves...very crappy in the spin department.

I second the 2008 Lancer Evo ADVAN marked one. It just smoked everything on the Tune Trax drag race - 11 out of 12 races. Including FTE's and a GT40

I dont have a single new casting that isnt near worthless outside of the Ipace ID car that I only bought due to Worpex raving about his.  Everything else Ive tried has been slower than even the average slow cars I have around.  Gonna dust some off one day and see if that changes but straight outta the box...nothing as of yet!

I seem to get lucky with cars performing @ the bottom of the top 15-20 cars of my fastest. gotta lovee amazon.
