new track and first car mods

Got my two sections of 25' continuous orange track today in the mail...can't wait to try them out this weekend.
also did my first mods last night, took the super van ambulance and put on FTE wheels and weighted the truck. it's heavy!
also just did a strip job on another super van, looks cool bare metal...used a wire wheel on an air tool at my shop.
going to be a fun weekend with the boy building tracks and racing cars!

The 50 ft continuous orange track is no longer available however it often pops up on E-bay pretty often. I bought 4 of them over the last several months and paid around $50 plus shipping. You can also post a message on the Hot Wheels message board in the trade section. I've seen a few for sale on there.
Good Luck,
Wendell
Any photos of that Super Van FTE? I bought a handful of Super Vans when I saw them on the pegs. I'm gonna customize a few this summer. I just got a color printer so I'm anxious to try the DIY water decals. Going to make some RDR logo cars!
OK, finally got to upload some photos.
Here is the new improved track. 25' long seamless with less of a kick at the transition...works better for weighted or squirelly cars. Just using a rolled up towel for a stopper right now, need to work on that.
Here are the custom Super Vans...one just stripped with a wire wheel, the other a weighted Ambulance with FTE wheels off a Fastfish.
Went to a local hobby store today to get some graphite for the axles and they had a great selection of cars from the last 7 years still in the packages...for 89 cents each! cheaper that TRU and target! Picked up 10 more...this is going to be a problem! But I now have my fastest stock car...
That track looks awesome! I wish I had more space to have long track up all the time.
Super Van looks great too. The Super Van smoked in this past race, as I was expecting...with some FTE wheels on that AND some weight, that's gonna rock. I think I'm determined to get the Scriocco to perform with mods. I need to find another so I can try it. I'm thinking same thing, FTE+weight...I just like the body style, I'm sucker for the race and GT cars, I guess.
Yeah, wish I had space to set up the track permanently, oh well.
I bought a 2005 'way 2 fast' this weekend, FTE wheels...it's quick! Also an Unobtainium, big wheels and big body makes it a quick one...but with a plastic body I would have thought otherwise.
Next I'm going to set up a single lane stunt track...double loop and jump!
Jobe, which one is your fastest stock car now? Also, are you in CA by any chance? If so, I'd love to get the name of that local hobby store. I have a hobby store with a bunch of Hot Wheels still in packages near me, but they get kind of pricey. $.89 for all the older ones sounds like a steal
I'm going to do a bit more testing but the fastest was the Super Van ambulance, neck and neck with a 2010 Corvette FTE.
Now either the Way 2 Fast FTE or Unobtainium is the fastest. I'll snap a picture tonight when I get home and do some more racing. Sorry I'm in Austin, Texas! If anyone is looking for some cars let me know...I'll see what they have. Didn't see anything rare or real special but lots of cool cars. I think I've expanded the collection by 25 cars in the last couple of weeks!
Zoom, zoom, zoom!
Jobe, if you find a Fat Fendered '40 #607 (from 1997) that looks like the picture below for $.89, let me know
I love the little notes on those older cars, like "Classic Styling" - the Rescue Ranger blister I got from Jason had "Cool Stereo" on it. Maybe that'll increase re-sale value...
Sweet, where did you get continuous orange track from? I've only been able to buy short sections. The only continuous track I know of is the Blutrack and it's kind of pricey for me.
