Hello everyone, my name is Bill. I'm not really new to HWs, although I'll admit that I haven't been actively collecting/racing in quite a while. I was pleased to find a HW site that appears to promote the merits of taking the cars out of the package and I greatly look forward to learning & contributing.

Let me be first to welcome you, Bill...I'm Brian and I manage this joint. We're all about playing here so you're in good company if you like to play with your toys and even rip them apart for the greater good.

If you haven't yet, please check out the Redline Derby Fantasy League game, a kind of virtual Hot Wheels racing club. We're nearing the end of our Fall season right now but the Winter season will be starting up in late October. The league is a great way to play Hot Wheels with friends and other fans. http://www.redlinederby.com/fantasy/

If you have any questions about Redline Derby or the game or anything else, please feel free to start a thread here in the forum or PM me. The regulars here on the board are some of the best at what they do and you'll find them all quite knowledgeable about anything and everything Hot Wheels.

So again, welcome...and have fun!

Thanks for the Welcome, Brian.

To be honest, my current collection of roughly 1500 cars(most 'in package') along with cheap hobby to re-immerse myself in. The good news is that I think I may have found it.

Welcome aboard Bill.

Not really sure how much you'll learn from me, but the rest of these guys are pretty good!

Welcome. This is a great place to take your hobby to the next level! I had been mostly a 'keep it in the package' collector since the mid 90s, but after joining RDR and building my own track, I have begun to put my collection to use -bust them loose and race 'em!

Welcome! I have to admit, I never really understood why people kept cars in the packages... I mean, I can understand the ones that are actually worth something, but 99% aren't. You can't really enjoy them in the package. I'd rather open them up to get a good look at them and race 'em!

Thanx to everyone for the warm welcome and the reaffirmation that it's selling many of my packaged THs, SEs, & RLs in order to acquire the necessary funds to build my 'open track' design. We'll see.

BTW, I've found much of the provided information here to be very helpful.

FWIW....today I bought 2 FTEs @ Wallyworld(a Ferrari California and a Ferrari 458 Italia). They're the 1st HWs that I've purchased in almost 10yrs and I choose them specifically based upon information that I gathered opened them up. I must say that I'm quite impressed with the quality & details on these cars. I can only hope their performance is as good as their appearance. Now, I just have to retrieve some of my track from the local storage facility...hopefully this coming weekend!

Nice! I do hope that these were the original FTE Wheels though! Both of those cars are very quick. I recommend the Javelin FTE as well, from my experience, its one of the fastest this year!

I've been looking for a Cadillac V16 for awhile now too, haha. I don't think they're in stores at the moment, you'd have to look in flea markets or specialty shops to find one. Truth be told, I think those are better places anyway. Cars from before 2005 are (on average) much better/faster than ones produced after that. The quality has just gone down a lot in recent years. : /
