Johnnie Walker from Numbskull Racing in Michigan, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Johnnie Walker is sponsoring the red 1985 Buick Wildcat concept car that appeared in the 1993 film called The Demolition Man. While inspecting the Wildcat, we quickly learned that the car has a mind of its own and would produce a violation ticket every time someone nearby would curse. We had way too much fun trying to see how fast we could get it to spit out violation tickets.

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: The film suffered repeated delays, and the original 72-day production schedule ran to 112 days. Sylvester Stallone was out for a week due to injury. Heavy rains in Los Angeles delayed filming. A soundstage was also damaged in a fire. The production went through five assistant directors, and many crew had to leave to work on other projects. It was like the film was god damned cursed (violation ticket appears).

Xanthippe from Just Another Pop Culture Reference in Washington, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Xanthippe is sponsoring the Blue Beetle from the novel series known as the Dresden Files, which has 17 total novels. Not to be confused with comic book adaptation or the Jeep used in the TV series adaptation.

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is a detective and wizard. He works as a supernatural private investigator in Chicago, dealing with paranormal crimes and consulting for the Chicago Police Department. As a private investigator, Harry drives the infamous "Blue Beetle," which is a Volkswagen Beetle. Harry Dresden acquired and drives the car because he was once told by his mechanic, Mike Atagi, that it's the easiest car in the world to repair. Although the Beetle was originally blue, many pieces of the body have been damaged and replaced with spare parts of different colors. The interior of the car has also been changed at least once after a mold demon destroyed the upholstery and foam padding in the interior, leaving Harry Dresden to drive the car seated on a wooden crate until he had a custom interior installed. The clock on the beetle also does not work. It's a perfect car for the Rim!

Kig Nition from N.J. Drive Racing in New Jersey, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Kig Nition is sponsoring the gray 1968 Dodge "Ice Charger" which is seen in the 2017 film called The Fate of the Furious. The 1968 Dodge Charger has been custom built and is more like a cross between the cars from Mad Max and Ken Block's outrageous Hoonicorn. The steel metal paneled muscle car with the flared body looks menacing and gets all-wheel drive and spiked tires to take on the ice terrain sideways. Maybe the Ice Charger will be the first car to not slip on the Kaiju Blue?

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: In keeping with the franchise's penchant for filming in "exotic" locations, such as Abu Dhabi and Rio de Janeiro. Principal photography began on March 14, in Mývatn, in Iceland, where strong winds sent a plastic iceberg prop flying into a paddock. The prop struck two horses: one was wounded and the other mortally injured; it was later euthanized.

Lone Star from Live young Die-Cast in Texas, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Lone Star is sponsoring the black '70 Chevy Nova from the 2007 film called Death Proof. Lone Star and "Jungle" Julia Lucai are no strangers to Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas. Just like Lone Star is no stranger to the Rim. With this Nova finally be the key to a win for Lone Star?

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: Many have asked if the movie Death Proof is based on a true story. The character, Zoë, was based on the stuntwoman herself and includes small stories based around her real life experiences, some with Tarantino. It wasn't until she saw her name featured on the film posters opposite Kurt Russell, Rosario Dawson and Rose McGowan that she realized how big the role was.

Too Kay from 2K Racing in Kansas, USa has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Too Kay is sponsoring the yellow '69 Dodge Charger from the 1974 movie called Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry. Now this 1969 Dodge Charger R/T 440 might have been found at a flea market, but it was built for racing. Will the Charger get Too Kay to the finish, or will it just get eaten up by the Rim?!

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: Two blue 1966 Chevrolet Impalas, as well as two 1969 (and one 1968) "Citron Yella" (Chrysler paint code GY3) color Dodge Chargers were used in the filming. As the film was a low-budget project, and no more than three Chargers could be purchased, a team of mechanics would work on the cars overnight to repair damage, while the film crew would cycle through the available cars throughout the shooting day. Car haulers would follow the filming team with the additional cars as they were available.

Daddy G from G4 Diecast Racing in Colorado, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Daddgy G is sponsoring the white Audi R8 Spyder V10 from the 2010 Marvel film called Iron Man 2. This Audi comes complete with the diorama that Tony's father, Howard Stark, made for the original Stark Expo in 1974.

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: Ivan's pet cockatoo was actor Mickey Rourke's idea; he didn't want to play a one-dimensional evil villain, and so he conceived of the bird as a way to give his character some humanity. When Rourke had to fly in for reshoots, Jon Favreau gifted Rourke his own cockatoo named Sonny. Both the original bird (Elvis) and Sonny appear in the film; if you look closely, their crests are different.

  • That is too good! The diorama model!! LOL -- What's the scale on *that*? 1:100,000 — Bongo

Scoupe Dively from Poverty Hollow ADCR in Pennsylvania, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Scoupe will be sponsoring the red 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona from the 2013 film called Fast & Furious 6. Will the Daytona give Scoupe the win over the competition as it did for Dom during the street race with Letty? Or will all that red be a beacon for the Kaiju?

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: The rear spoiler and front nose were both made shorter to give it a different look than that of the original Daytona Chargers. The nose was custom-made by Dennis McCarthy out of fiberglass to make it look like a Daytona and reduce front-end weight, a big problem with the muscle cars of that day.

Nick Deavers from Nick Deavers Racing in Michigan, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Nick is sponsoring the red 1999 Ford SVT Lightning from the 2001 movie called The Fast and the Furious. Now just because this Ford F-150 was used as a work truck at The Racer's Edge, it is wicked fast and the only truck in this tournament.

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: Craig Lieberman, senior producer for the first few Fast and Furious movies, got so many requests to talk about the Lightning on his YouTube channel that he just had to cover it, even though the car didn't play an important role in the movie. In fact, the car only had three real scenes. That curb smash, as Lieberman points out, was totally real and not some sound dubbed over after the fact. If you were on set, you probably cringed when it happened.

Rez from Rez Wheelz Racing in Canada has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Rez is sponsoring the blue 1972 Ford Escort MK I RS1600 from the 2013 film called Fast & Furious 6. This car was built for the Rim with its rally-spec suspension! Maybe we should install ramps?

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: Since the Escort badge only made it to the U.S. market on front-wheel-drive econoboxes, the stunt cars that would be turned into 1972 RS1600 replicas had to be sourced and built in Britain. Five blue Escorts were assembled, some packing 2.0-liter Vauxhall Redtop engines from Opel, while others had the correct 1.6-liter Ford Kents featuring the DOHC Cosworth heads and double Weber carbs for the closeup shots.

Fern from FUMO Diecast Racing in California, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Fern is sponsoring the black 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S from the 1981 film called Cannonball Run. Now Fern isn't held to the same maximum speed limit of 55mph, so we think this bad boy will make it all the way to the finals.

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: The 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S from the cult movie The Cannonball Run has just made history, entering the Library of Congress via the National Historic Vehicle Register on 29 September 2021. The Countach was an iconic element in the movie, which in 1981 celebrated the clandestine coast-to-coast race that defied a system that enforced a speed limit of 55 mph (88 km/h). In The Cannonball Run, the race is won by the Countach LP 400 S, shiny black with a mustard-yellow interior. The car has obtained legendary status with motor movie fans.

Big Mac from Madness Motorsports in Michigan, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Big Mac is sponsoring the black 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am from the 1977 film called Smokey and the Bandit. So it has inspired us to present to Corporate that we giveaway 400 cases of Coors beer to the winner of the tournament. That was met with a hard NO.

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: After the debut of the film, the Pontiac Trans Am became wildly popular, with sales almost doubling within two years of the film's release. It outsold its Chevrolet Camaro counterpart for the first time ever. Reynolds was given the 1977 vehicle used during promotion of the film as a gift, though the car itself never actually appeared in the film. Due to his financial difficulties in 2014, Reynolds put his vast collection of artwork and memorabilia up for auction, including the Trans Am. High estimates for the car were up to $80,000, but the actual sale price was $450,000.

Henley from KCLH Racing in Idaho, USA has checked-in and passed inspection for the Pop Culture Carvana diecast racing tournament!

Henley is sponsoring the black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T that appeared in several of the Fast & Furious franchise movies. Now the Charger has a record of 9 seconds flat for a 1/4-mile, but since the Rim is shorter, we hope to see a very low 5-second lap time. Maybe even break the record?

POP CULTURE FUN FACT: Roman Pearce's phone identifies Dominic by showing an image of his Charger when he rings. Also, when Brian repairs the Charger to save Dominic from the prison bus at the end of the fourth movie, the Charger's rear plate now reads 3DHI832, the same plate Brian had on his Skyline earlier in the movie. Finally, the Charger's blower in the first movie was fake.
