If you're hosting a Pro Series tournament this year, please review and follow these guidelines. Most of these guidelines apply to all our racing in general, but some of these are specific to the Pro Series.

If you have any questions, please send me a PM. I'll make revisions and updates accordingly and denote when they happen.

What You'll Need at the End

  • The tournament winner, car and person
  • The number of upper bracket wins per car, even for zero earners. Do not report loser bracket wins.
  • Photos and/or video of the racing is preferred but not required

Receiving Cars

  • Be careful opening packages
  • Keep cars and ID cards together in a safe place
  • Take a photo of each entry car for use in the topic thread and for a matter of record
  • Give each car a quick roll test. No test runs on the track, just a flat surface or track segment.
  • Inspect all cars for any damage. If a car appears damaged, contact the owner immediately to determine what course of action they want to take. Repairs are allowed in order to return the car to rolling condition. If a car is beyond repair, the entry will have to forfeit
  • Weigh all cars to make sure they do not exceed the tournament limit by any more than 3-grams. If a car exceeds the weight allowance, that car is disqualified and removed from the tournament.
  • Spot check all cars to look for cases where the car may break/exceed any other rules or conditions. Be generous with your inspection. If you think a car is an offender, contact RLD Staff for a ruling.

Race Prep

  • Take 2 stock cars with the same casting to test your track and make it as even as possible. Both lanes should be expected to race about the same for the same model car. Just eyeball it but look for 1/4 car length or less. If you have a timer finish line, shoot for a margin within .5 seconds.
  • If needed, you may add small stickers to cars to help number them for easy tracking
  • All Pro Series tournaments are double-elimination
  • Use PrintYourBrackets.com to get the appropriate tournament bracket
  • Randomly seed the bracket unless otherwise instructed

Racing Upper Bracket (Winner's Bracket)

  • The car in the top bracket slot per match starts in Lane 1
  • Every match-up is best 2-of-3 with cars alternating lanes between heats
  • First car to win 2 heats wins the match and moves on in the Upper Bracket. Loser goes to lower bracket.
  • If a car comes off the track, it gets ONE redo. If it comes off again, it DNFs to lower bracket.

Racing Lower Bracket (Loser's Bracket)

  • The car in the top bracket slot per match starts in Lane 1
  • Every match-up is best 2-of-3 with cars alternating lanes between heats
  • First car to win 2 heats wins the match and moves on in the tournament. Loser is eliminated.
  • If a car comes off the track, it gets ONE redo. If it comes off again, it is eliminated.

Recording the Race

While not mandatory, it is encouraged that all Pro Series hosts take photos of entry cars, racing, winners and other race day activities. Post photos on the event topic thread. If possible, try to record some racing on video and upload to YouTube for viewing. Any effort to post-produce your video is encouraged and appreciated but not required.

Reporting Race Results

  • Report event results by email to werace@redlinederby.com
  • Include a photo of your completed brackets along with any keys or notes needed to review it
  • Report the total number of Upper Bracket wins for each entrant. Do not count Lower Bracket wins.
  • Denote the entrant that won the tournament

Returning Cars

  • Use the included ID card for preferred mailing address
  • Pack each car with care. Use sturdy boxes. Do not force fit any car into a box or envelope. Use bubblewrap, peanuts, paper, etc to cushion and for padding.
  • You are responsible for all return shipping costs. Included entry fees should be use to help offset this cost but you must cover any remaining expenses.
  • You may use whichever mail carrier you prefer. We recommend USPS for ease and convenience.
  • Always use a shipping method that gives you a tracking number. Send the tracking number to each person via email or RLD private message. Do not post tracking numbers in the topic thread.
  • Try your best to ship out all cars within 2-weeks after the event. If it's going to take longer, communicate that to entrants.
