PSA: PMs older than this year will be deleted on 10/12
Any private message (PM) that has not been updated this year, along with any associated images, will be deleted on 10/12/25.
Currently, the message inbox only shows the last 6 months anyway but in efforts to clean up the site and help reduce some of the overhead, I will be clearing out all PMs from 2024 and before, including any images that were attached to them.
If there are any images, links, or other information in the PMs in your inbox currently, I might suggest printing them out to PDFs or otherwise saving the details somewhere on your computer. I'm going to do my best to retain messages from this year but hey, stuff happens.
Only messages that don't have any replies from 2025 will be included. So if you have a PM from 2020 and you're still using it as a private thread with someone else and it was updated in 2025, that message will be safe from deletion.
All of this in efforts to reduce data clutter on the server and hopefully help the site run a little smoother. I'm working on the site a bit and a data migration might be in order so the less data there is to copy over, the better.

Just to be clear, it's only the images that have been attached to PMs. Images in forum posts aren't getting touched. You can't see any PM older than 6 months anyway, and unfortunately, Past Brian seemed to think there didn't need to be any sort of clean-up operation going on, so now it's a problem for Future Brian. I did some number crunching last night and there are thousands of images sitting on the server sucking up space that belong to PMs as old as 5 years ago...images that no one will ever see. I curse Past Brian.
