Racing from Argentina

Quique69 Monday, 4/26/2010

Hello everybody!

I'm Quique (common nickname for Enrique, which means Henry in spanish), and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm 40 (hence the 69, the year that I was born).

I started to collect die cast since almost a year ago. I collect 1:64 and my favorite brand is Hot Wheels, but I also like Matchbox, Welly and Maisto. My collection is aimed to american cars from 50s to 70s. I have -by now- main lines only.

I just discovered this web site last Wednesday and I found it very interesting. I'm already on the Fantasy League (I still have to learn about it). I also like to point out that the site has excellent content, and it is beautifully designed, so congratulations to the saff.

I'm particularly happy with the fact that here seems important the performance of cars. Most collectors tend to judge cars only for its similarity with the real model. I care about similarity, but I also care about performance: when I buy a new car, I test it on a table, if it does not roll reasonably straight, I sell it or give it to my nephews!

Greetings!

Quique

PS: excellent choice PHP forums, I think they are the best.
PS2: forgive me for my english, my natural language is spanish.

Bienvenido a Redline Derby, Enqirue!

I hope that's correct...my Spanish is a little rusty

Glad you found us and you could very well be our first international player! I'm happy to hear you got into the Fantasy League, I hope you're having some fun with it.

And thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoy the content at Redline Derby because I really enjoy writing it I have a new blog design ready so that will be launching in the coming months, hopefully it will be an improvement over the current site. I'm focusing a lot on photos because I enjoy them so much and I think everyone else does too.

I think real world detailing is good and all, but you can only get so far with a 1:64 car. If I wanted detail I'd go for a larger scale. The 1:64 scale is perfect for collecting and playing. They're cheap, numerous, and a lot of fun to play with.

Thanks for the welcome!

Well, that is exactly what I enjoy most regarding die cast cars. Since I started, I learnt a lot, and -of course- I have a lot to learn too!

Here are some photos of mine:

67 Chevrolet Camaro
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Oldsmobile 442
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

64 Buick Riviera
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

That 67 Camaro is HOT! What year is that from?

I don't have a lot of gear for my camera so most of my shots end up pretty generic. I really should make a lightbox of some sort and get interesting with the photos. Maybe once the new RDR site is up I'll be motivated to be more creative with my photos.

Hey, your photos are excellent! I also do not have accesories, I just have an old Hewlett Packard 447 5.0 MP camera.
By the way, here is my gallery: http://www.flickr.com/photos/37462543@N02/
If any photo is usefull for your site, feel free to download and use it in your web whenever you want.

Very cool. I setup a Flickr group called The Daily Diecast. Everyday a random picture is pulled from that group and featured on the web site and Twittered out to the world. You should submit your diecast photos to the group, especially since you're already on Flicker.

Link to the group and details are here:

I plan to really push the Daily Diecast with the new RDR web site design since I'll need all the photos I can get at that point.

Bummer that Argentina is so slow on receiving new Hot Wheels. Are there any from 2010 so far you have your eye on? I can keep a look out next time at the store and if I find any, I can send them your way

Thank you very much for the offering, however I prefer to wait until the cars appear here; but -again- thanks!

The Daily Diecast group can be any diecast. Any brand, any scale...it's more about loving toy/model cars than specific types or racing performance. Even though we love to race, we love looking at the cars too! I look forward to see your photos get featured.

I added 30 more, total 48, now the group has 486 photos. I think I added all my die cast pics there, but may be I overlooked any, I will check later.

By the way, I looked the whole album, very nice photos and cars there.

Greetings!
