Racing/Team Logos

LeagueofSpeed Wednesday, 7/4/2018

I wanted to get this out there in the forum to get some honest responses...I'm not looking for your political views or social beliefs...because this is a racing forum. As some know, I'm a North Carolina native...lived here all my 51 years and my family is 5 generations deep here on NC soil.

My question...do you find the Confederate Flag to be offensive? I'm digging a certain logo design that includes it as part of the logo.

...thoughts appreciated and welcome.

In today’s world of political correctness it wouldn’t matter what you used as a logo. Somebody is going to take offence to it. Having said that we are only racing diecast cars as a hobby (even if we are somewhat competitive) I happen to think the confederate flag is cool looking and if that’s what you want to incorporate in your logo I say go for it. I’m not from the states so I don’t know the full history of the flag and I think it should be up to you whether you want to use it or not.

Im in the process (when I get time) of redesigning my logo as I want to incorporate a picture of the grim reaper in mine. It’s a picture I’ve used as my profile picture on Facebook for years for the simple reason that I like it. I think it looks cool and it’s not meant to offend anyone.

So in my opinion:   GO FOR IT LEAGUE of SPEED !!! Looking forward to seeing it.

Well in these times folks look for something to complane about..Political correctness is just what it is,good or bad.At the age of 58 ,we grew up with the the Southern battle flag.Never felt it meant any thing negative.Never felt like one group of folks were better or worst then the other..I would say go for it..

I don't have any qualms with the Stars N Bars...but lots of people do. So like the others said. someone will bitch and complain, be prepared to defend yourself. I can appreciate the flag's history and what it can mean to families that go back as far as yours.

And hell, my favorite Hot Wheels casting is the Dixie Challenger...so yeah, I'm fine with it :)

However, while I don't have any issues with it as a person, I do need to keep the Redline Derby brand in mind. Especially given your status as RLD Staff, just make sure you present your logo in a way that does not suggest it's a logo for RLD. Redline Derby needs to remain as neutral as possible. Of course, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed...but I don't feel that flag crosses it. We let people praise Jesus around here, so there's no reason the rebel flag can't be appreciated.

Either way, I think it's fair enough to say that if stuff starts to get out of hand because of the logo, I'll ask you to remove it.

  • Fair enough...and I'm not completely sold on it yet anyhow...we've got a few irons in the fire and it's just a Logo — LeagueofSpeed
