Reminiscing about RLD, the early days

I've don't plenty of exploring in the archives, and I've seen your name many a time! I'm relatively new, almost 2 years now. Hoping to still be here for plenty more!

In this case, I made my Econoline for a van race at The Elevation Trail last year. you'd have been a perfect fit, Carl. We need more van races.
Every now and then I take a deep dive into threads from way back when. Kind of sad to see that just about every person who was active hasn't posted in years. I actually recognized your name from on of those deep dives and was a little bewildered you posted again now. The hobby has evolved since then but you're always welcome to jump back in
Carl! Haha...glad you stopped by the old digital stompin' ground. Man, that list is a who's who of RLD pioneers! I don't think many of them are around these parts anymore. If any of them are still racing, they're probably just doing it on YT or Facebook or wherever...not really sharing much around here these days.
"The Regulars" have swapped out many times over the past 13 years since then. There's a new batch about every 3 years or so it seems. As much "churn" as it may be, it's fun to see new people always walking through the door and discovering how much fun this hobby can be. They stick around for a while until they move on to another hobby.
But as you've found, once you get bit by the diecast racing bug it never really leaves. Time and life might take you on to other fun things but the time you spend racing with friendly folks around the country is always a fond memory. It's pretty unique, if you ask me.
It'd be a thing to have a Redline Derby meetup some day, lol
Hope things are happy with you and all you're doing. I do see your shares on FB and always find your real-life car stuff fun. It's really cool that your dad's TV truck go turned into a casting...very, very special. My dad also worked in television, as did I, so seeing that was a extra neat.
