Waiting on confirmation from Brian that my SVT Lightning, "Lightning Fast," has arrived on time ... that and CapperDeluxe's Challenger "Driftwood" together form a team of the highest pedigree: "Fastest of the Fastest: Deluxe Edition"! (Sorry that I didn't get a picture of Lightning Fast before sending it out....) Looking forward to teaming up with CD for this!

I'm making a final(ish) pick-up tomorrow (Monday) to gather what cars got here over the weekend. Depending how quickly I get organized, I might do a Tuesday or Wednesday pick-up as well...have to see. Monday for sure, others if there's time.

As of Sunday night, the cars I'm missing are:

  • FOTF
  • Uncle Joe
  • DeeJay
  • Diego
  • Big Samm

Good chance a lot of them are at the PO and waiting for me. I'm still going through the cars that are here and getting them tagged and organized. I'm hoping my schedule this week will give us some time to do a showcase as we always do.

I'm also going to start putting together the groupings for the round robins and start racing them with the cars that are here. Any late-comers will get tossed in and raced eventually. I'll post the groupings as soon as I have them ready.

So I totally forgot that Monday was tax day so the post office was a nuthouse and I opted to just wait until Tuesday. I should have an update come Wednesday. We'll get there...

I can confirm that the Pro Division is all accounted for. FOTF's entry arrived today completing that field.

On the Amateur side, Uncle Joe and Bigg Samm are still unaccounted for and are hopefully en route. Diego's entry is in the mail as we speak. I'll try to do a pick up Thursday to get Diego's car and if those other 2 are there. I'll be recording the showcase and start racing in next couple days and any late pick-ups will go into the later groups I haven't yet raced.

  • Sounds great! I'm excited to see it all! Penny won't pick mine - not pink, no stripe, no flame...next time ;) — pupulesurfer
  • Cut two videos. You have the pro builders there, so go ahead and cut that one. You can do the amateur video later. — SpyDude
  • Hello sir uncle joe here I sent my car a week Before the deadline I hope it reaches you — Unclejoesspeedway

Because life doesn't know when to stop, my mom had to go to the hospital today - hopefully nothing too serious. But that means getting videos up for the first stage racing may take a little longer than I had hoped. I should still be able to get the actual racing done and recorded so the cars can be on their way to Washington but the action might not get to the YouTubes as soon as I had hoped, including the showcase.

Sorry for the inconvenience but thanks for understanding. I like to get things up in a timely manner but sometimes you get curveballs to swing at.

  • All good, wishing all the best for your family. — pupulesurfer
  • Is Momma okay? — SpyDude

I spent some time getting my track ready and trying to reduce the hot lane but in doing so had to make a minor change to the RLD Speedway.

I found that putting my lanes next to each other helped make things a little more even but in doing so had to change my track from the seamless orange track to the current model "blue button" track. The higher walled seamless track doesn't work well butt-up next to each other in my start/finish combo so I had to switch to the lower wall.

All in all, not a big change but thought best to disclaim it before it magically appeared in the videos. Length and drop are the same as before and cars are running just fine otherwise.

I'm currently recording the Pro division with Amateur hopefully captured by end of the week and then editing.

  • woo, looking forward to seeing this kick off! — IndianaDiecastRacing
  • Thanks for the update! I am definitely in the Amateur division because I have no idea how what you did changes things lol — pupulesurfer
  • Thats ok! Just means I will have something to blame if/when I finally lose out there HA!!! — Mattman213

Last minute substitution announcement...with a backstory...

I ran the Pro division this week which gave the Amateur side a few extra days to arrive, specifically entries from ItsDiegoBTW and Big Samm. Diego's arrived, Samm's did not.

However, back in March, Miniature Car Racing got dropped from the event because they were non-responsive when messaged. BUT, Bolo Brown had sent in a car as part of the Miniature Car Racing team when he himself wasn't part of the event - just some confusion during the entry process - but nonetheless Bolo's car is in-house and ready to race, soooo....

Bolo Brown will be replacing Bigg Samm in the Amateur divison as Secondhand Speed's teammate.

This makes both divisions full without any missing cars, which is awesome. I suspected we'd have one or two cars just miss or whatever but a little luck shone our way and we have full 16-car fields on both sides.

BTW, I'll be recording Amateur division races over next day or two and then hitting the editing hard so everyone can see some action as soon as possible.

Quick update...the showcase video will be going up tonight as it comes out of the oven. It was a busy and fun weekend out and about so editing time was limited but it's all good and all getting cut now.

Hope to have the racing up by the weekend. I'll be setting up premieres for primetime as always and then we'll see how things roll as the cars head out across the country.

For those of you who may or may not have seen my post over on Facebook, this indeed WAS the car I accidentally WAY over-lubed with graphite - I literally had the whole car covered in graphite.  As you can tell, I couldn't quite get it all off those pretty white wheels, so they might be a little slick on the track.  Well, we'll see how it runs!

Good luck to you all!

  • I think we're going to see a lot of that casting in future races. Way to kick off a trend :) — redlinederby
  • Well, I got plenty of them to modify - it’s my current favorite casting. No interior, so lots of room for weights. Oh, and a blue version just hit the shelves. — SpyDude
  • Look at the orange City Turbo I sent to RLD recently, it was spotless when I sent it but the graphite added plus some residual in the little bubble envelope I reused made it a MESS. Doesnt hurt anything tho!!! — Mattman213
  • Dude, I had so much graphite on that car, I could’ve done roof slides with it and still won. — SpyDude
