Super 6 Lane bottom release modification

Milton-Fox Friday, 11/29/2013

I was fiddling around with the release gate on my super 6 lane set again today and came up with a simple release mechanism - a duck tape pull tab! Didn't have to change anything else around to make it work.

Attached two strips of tape. One to the top of the yellow piece of the gate. This was cut down to fit between the posts for lane 3 and 4 from underneath the track. I used about 2" for length. Putting one inch between the posts and left about an inch hanging down. I then took a second piece of tape and put it on the bottom side of the yellow piece - so the sticky sides joined together. Wrapped the extra width from the bottom tape piece (as I didn't trim it down any) around the first piece of tape. I went a head and cut a third piece of tape to wrap around the "tab" that was created to neat it up.

I can tell the difference in the release and the last two cars which had occasionally drug across the posts - don't anymore.

With the original start lever pulled back you can see that the gate posts protude just a tiny bit

Here is the duct tape tab from the bottom.

And pulled down (you can see the top tape located between post 3 and 4.)

Back on top with the duck tape tab still pulled down. Notice the original start lever is in the same position as above, but the posts are now completely clear of the holes and the track surface.

I see, that way lower cars don't get caught on the start gate. Neat idea!

way 2 go milt... duct tape rocks...
I just clicked onto hot wheels 6 lane raceway...
OMG... I HOPE YOU GUYS GOT ONE WHEN THEY WERE $75.00 ...
THEY ARE NOW $185.00 TO $250.00 ! ...

And to think, after Xmas last year Target marked them down to around $20.

The four lane track has gone sky high as well.

I did see the 6 lane on Craigs List a few weeks ago, someone was asking $15 for it. That might be the place to go if you are looking for it.

Wow! I don't remember the exact price we paid, but it was under $90 with the sales tax added. My brother bought one for his nephew as well and I am hoping that it becomes garage sale fodder some day and he can pick it up for me! I haven't seen any around here locally, but not looking that hard.
