Time trial race interest

Go_Time Friday, 11/22/2019

Hey everyone I am interested in hosting a race but wanted to do something a little different than head to head racing.  Since I have a timer system on my track I thought it would be fun to do a time trial race.  I was thinking I would run every car on the same track and time every car...then the top 20 fastest cars will be seeded slowest to fastest...then those 20 cars will run the same track 3 times to get an average of those 3 runs to determine 1st place all the way to 20th place.  Im still kicking around ideas, but wanted to see if there was any interest in this type of race?  20 carsx3 runs is a lot and I might be biting of more than I can chew as this would be my first time hosting.  Let me know your thoughts.

Sounds great! We don't get a lot of timed race options so it would be nice to have something a little different. Count me in for it - mod or stock...whichever.

And actually, a timer race might be a good choice for a first hosting gig because you won't have to worry about a bracket. You're just racing and recording times...still a lot of cars to handle but less to keep track of IMO.

If you think the best of 3 is a little much, you could probably just do one race down each lane (per car), and taking the fastest time as the best, then rank that way. Or have that as a backup...if you get only a few entries, 3x won't be bad - but if you get a ton, you can fall back to less runs.

Anyway...good concept and I'd say run with it. Even there is "minimal" interest, if you get close to 10 cars entered, that would be a good way to get more comfortable with hosting and such. It's not fun to learn the ropes when you have 4 dozen cars waiting to run.

  • YES, a time trial type race would tell you exactly where you stack up against the best in diecast racing. I'm still working it out and hope to announce the race after thae hollidays. — Go_Time
