Tubing your axles
Does anyone have any basic tips for tubing axels.Example tubing size diameter? Gluing the axles in the tube. Never tried it but going to attempt it soon. Thanks PaPa -E

I am experimenting with split tubes
that go over an uncut axle,
and then closed back up
allows for wider axles in narrow chassis
cut tube to lenght, use jewelers saw inserted thru tube
start each end first, then make blade "slacked"
insert into both cuts, and saw thru
clean/dress slot, open by slowly working slot open
insert axle, close w/ smooth pliars

- I have used small brass U channel as one of the methods to use uncut axles into a narrow chassis , cheers. — CutRock_R_Marc_D
- cool idea, and it's flatter....hhhmmm thanks! — dr_dodge
Use 1/64 (if memory serves me correctly) brass tubing. It will fit standard axles cut in half to allow for widening the stance. Cut the tubing to required length and using a dremel with drum sander cut two notches to create a space for glue (jb weld etc).
should be lots of info on this site as well as you tube.
Thanks guys for your information.
Cutrock_R those videos have lots of good information.
Will be getting my supplies this weekend and giving it a go. Thanks Papa-E
There's also a ton of articles and discussion about tubing through the forum tags, the Wheels & Axles collection has some 10+ year's worth of ideas.

Good luck!
Hi there,
Here is an old video, still relevant from a well known racer in the day Chris Raab. (He also successfully raced in KOTM in early 3D days. (72ChevyC10 was his race name)
If you are new, he has a wealth of things on his site one can have a look at and evaluate, on how to do things, and improve speed, theory etc. About just over half way he advises the size tubes etc, all still available.
Good luck out there.
