The is faster" segment well. I have a brown 308 w/5ho wheels that was dominant over my 2 Ferrari Italia FTEs on my Fat Track coarse.

That brings up a good point (the weight of the cars). The heaviest FTE is probably a lot lighter than the Ferrari 308s.
I know that a lot of effort is being put into this test, and it is appreciated! Could you possibly post the weights of the various cars too. THANKS!

...which brings up yet another question(which may not be able to be answered here, but...)...What & body? FWIG, most FTEs are based on newer, lighter castings that are probably cheaper for Mattel to produce. Any thoughts?

sad to say, but building race cars i find that the classic hot wheels bases are heavier...
i believe that all classics are on metal bases.... in my opinion, the weight is so that if you pay three times the cost, it beats your $1.07 wallies...
. weight ; hot ones vs. mainline ? ... i only have [ 4 ] common castings....not much of a test ...
anyone want to take the ball and run ?

Cool! Can't wait to see these results. I have my cars all picked out as well but I wont post any pictures or results until you've finished yours up so I don't steal your thunder. Sadly though, I only have 14 FTEs, so my showdown will be a bit shorter. I have two wheel types which aren't in your test which I plan to use though, a J5 and a White Wall.

I'd love to be able to post the weights of each of the cars running, but I haven't gotten a scale yet.

The El Camino FTE is all-metal and I believe the 16 Angels is as well. Haven't raced either one as they are fresh out of the package, so I'm excited to see how they do.

WorpeX~ that's cool that you're planning on doing this too. I don't have a lot of free time, so I'm having to do this race experiment in segments. It's a lot of fun, but requires quite a bit of racing to rank the cars. I'll hopefully find time to rank the FTE cars next and then be able to hold the "Showdown"

THANKS for looking on guys

I have yet to see an all metal FTE car that I'm aware of...so I make them!

16 Angels FTE is all metal. Doesn't seem to help it much though... still not one of my quicker FTE's. Im curious to see where it ranks in JDC's though.

Thanx for the clarification, WorpeX.

The one thing that bothers me about the few FTEs that I have is the way they mass certainly doesn't hurt.

you have that right G,... energy heard is energy lost ... the same theory applies to loose hoods etc. ... it takes energy to make a vibration... that energy has to come from somewhere...
