I've always been curious about the meaning behind some of my fellow racer's forum names. So I decided to send out a few PMs requesting divulgence. A few of you even agreed to let me use your replies for this thread.

Traction Event

Long story short. I used to make a photocopied music fanzine, with photos, band interviews reviews ect. It was called Taste Like Chicken. That was before the internet. When I got on the internet tastelikechicken.com was taken. I changed it to tastelikedirt.

Anyone else want to enlighten us on the how you came up with your forum name? Join in and post a response!

Here's the story behind my fixation on the number 442.

JDC442
JDC are simply my initials. The number 442 is a bit more interesting.

My first experience with the number 442 was back when I was a kid. It was the late 70’s and the Pittsburgh Steelers were winning Super Bowls, Terry Bradshaw was my hero, and there was nothing I loved more (besides playing with Hot Wheels of course) than running football plays with my friend in the back yard. Wearing my black and yellow #12 jersey, playing quarterback, I’d call out numbers before the snap. One of my favorite numbers to call before the snap was “442”. For example, it’d go something like this…“Down, set, 327, 24, 442 HIKE!! Not sure why, I must have just thought the number sounded cool or something.

In 1980, my family abruptly moved from Washington to South Carolina for my father’s job. My mother and I took the family car (1969 Cutlass Supreme) all the way across the country to get there (quite an adventure when you’re 12 years old). One day after we were all moved in, I was going through the garage, unpacking some of my stuff and noticed that the number on the Bekins moving sticker on my bike (my favorite possession in the world at the time) was the number 442. Because I already thought this number was super cool, having it placed randomly on my bike had to be more than a coincidence, right?

It wasn’t until I entered high school a few years later, back in Washington, that I learned that my favorite family car (the ’69 Oldsmobile) also came in a sports model that had a 442 solidified as my favorite number and car!

Well I came up with Stroller because my real name is Sproul which rhymes with stroll. Sprouler just sounds goofy so now it's Stroller. The bad side is Stroller Racing sounds like I race baby buggies.......

Before I returned to Hot Wheels, I was looking for a way to stay involved in racing as my great grand father had raced Jalopies, my grand parents had raced go-karts, my dad raced cars and go-karts. I had raced go-karts, but parents had to get out of racing due to the cost. Came up with an Internet idea to stay connected and to make a little extra money. My friend came up with the business name of Iowastockcars. Thus the name was born and has opened many doors and gotten me into many, many free races. Have been able to rub shoulders with NASCAR drivers and some of the top dirt drivers in the nation.

Little did I know years later, I would get involved with racing Hot Wheels with my sons. We aren't big modders and mainly stick to the stock racers. Thus, the name carried over to this form of racing as well.

I named a plastic penguin toy I had (actually still have) as a child. A few years ago, I learned it was also a movie title from 1964 about a penguin set in Antarctica. Milton was the general in my animal army - against my brothers green army men. He is kinda small and was hard to hit with our rubber band bullets!

It God's calling in my life...to help those in need, be a positive example to others, and tell as many who will hear what right now in their daily lives. So I do Hot Wheels racing with our community to let them know that we are a group of caring Christians who love and care for our fellow racers even if they don't come to our church services. And when the time is right...I want to be there to help...that's just me.

Landon's (AMH412) response was very touching and personal. When I asked if he wanted me to share the meaning behind his forum name in this thread, he said yes, because "I have come to count all on here as friends and I think much of everyone".

AMH412

AMH stands for my deceased wife's maiden name. Allyn Marie Heule. The 412 is the address of a house she once loved. Lost her July 4th of 2011, she has always been the love of my life and will remain so. WindSwept is the name of the farm where she grew up as a child. That's the history of the names I use, and, thank you for asking.

Nightstalker 10/12/13

OK, Nightstalker, In the 70's there was a show starring Darrin McGavin called "Nightstalker" about a reporter working for a rag like the Daily Sun or any other trash rag. I then used "Nightstalker Racing" in the 60's when Slot car Racing. Later I found that John Force had a Funny Car named "Nightstalker". I revived the name when I opened up my own Slot Car Raceway "Majestic Raceway" when the racing got going good.
