Where have I been lately?
Hi folks! If you haven't already noticed, my presence & participation here has been lacking as of late. Basically, I've recently been forced to focus my attention on full size cars. My beloved Audi station wagon was 'totaled' in a car accident late last yeartiny cars soon enough.

Road worthy... BUT IS IT FAST!!!?!??
"FAST"?? .....no.
The VW 2.5 is the entry-level motor and only makes ~150hp. Its a normally aspirated, 20v, chain-driven inline 5cyl with a 'practical' powerband(nice low end though!). But its not the quicker & sportier "GLI" w/the 2.0T & DSG trans.
Glad to hear that you're on the road again and relatively free of distractions from your hobby, although new cars can be fun too!
So wait, you picked a VW over an Audi?

Yea, the older V6 AWD Audis are more $$ spent on diecast.
And here I thought that "your car needs premium gas" stuff was hogwash. Go figure.
I can only imagine what type of MPGs a "real" Audi gets...

I'm not sure about the R8 GT, but the normal R8 4.2 V8s & 5.2 V10s get ~13mpg city/~20mpg highway....not that thier owners are really concerned about thier mileage.
i know just what you mean, if i had to drive a foreign compact car i would also be more concerned with not being seen by my buddies than gas economy

Yes!
Well, I have lots of German influence on my Mother's side and I basically grew up riding in the backseat of many VW Type 1s(aka:The Beetle). So I guess you could say my career/vehicle choice was due to my upbringing. This "nut" didn't fall far from "the tree".
